To whomever this concerns
I would like to share my story with you all in the hope that it helps people deal with there problems.
I have been gambling for several years now and it has only got worse as the years got on. I have tried several steps, going on here, speaking to people, however it was always a brief moment which did'nt help because i was missing the will power to want to stop.
Now its christmas, i have 0 in the bank, 0 in savings and struggling to say the least however what i have is a hope. This hope is based on my actions in the last three weeks that have allowed me to regain some of confidence to breath again.
I self excluded myself from all the bookies so that i could no longer use the machines, i self excluded myself online sites so that i could not access them. To give you an idea, where talking about 10 to15 casino sites that i was a member of.
To also put it into perspective as to how bad things had got, i won £4000 on one spin and lost it within an hour and ended up putting more money in.
Its hard to say what changed but i started seeing someone who i was honest with and who had helped me through it by encouraging me to be strong and help build my self confidence. Gambling can cause depression and so many psycological problems, its disgusting how they are allowed to freely advertise all over the country, on busses, on tv etc when its a serious addiction. I believe that like cigarrettes and wine, these gambling places should come with a clear warning, whether an example or so but to outline the effects of gambling in order to make people think before they decide to gamble as they do with f**s and beer.
My advice to people struggling is just say NO, your stronger than how they want you to feel. Do not believe the misguided win that they give you only to put you on a downward spiral to losing because that is how they get you, they draw you in by making you think you are on a streak then before you know it you have lost some of you high winnings so in an attempt to recoop it you keep playing only to discover you going down even more and then eventually get frustrated and increase bets.
Together we can say NO to Gambling and help fight this addiction.

Hi gelegeta,
Welcome to the Forum!
You have made some very positive steps for yourself, that's great to read about. And I like the experience that you share here with others: That you need to find courage and will power in order to stop, and that you are stronger than you think you are.
All the best for your journey!
Kind wishes
Gabriele
Welcome,I'm only on day 4 so I can offer you no words of wisdom, only to say, well done for joining the forum and keep it up,good luck!
I agree that there are too many gambling adverts these days and it is just too easy to deposit a lot of money and lose the lot very quickly but we have to live in the real world and there is little we can do about it. We can though look after our own interests and make sure we don't hand our money over.
Delorean, maybe we could focus the same strength that causes us to gamble into campaigning against these advertisements then we might just make an impact that not only will affect our lives but the lives of others and stop what we go through happening to other people.
Affected by gambling?
