I would be interested in hearing more about this too. My husband has an appointment in a few weeks time... Hopefully someone out there has some experience.

Hi

my husband had his first appointment there today but it was purely taking his details and history. He was given the choice of group or individual cognitive behaviour therapy- he wanted individual but was told the wait could be up to 12 weeks so he has opted for group but the wait is still 7 weeks. Think he came away quite disappointed as he has already waited 3 months for this initial appointment and is desparate to get going. He sees this as his final hope of recovery. Not much more info but I'll post again once he starts. And more importantly if it has an impact!

No waiting list at GA. NPGC all though well meaning is a bit of a joke really under funded & under staffed. 5 months to even begin therapy is not really offering any kind of service is it?

Totally agree but it all too late for my marriage anyway. He's gone now and divorce is underway. I just want him to recover any way he can and in his mind this is his last hope. He really is a case of those CG's who lose their home, marriage, dignity, all self respect. And I've lost my husband and our children no longer have their dad at home. Sorry, doesn't really fit title of 'overcoming problem gambling' but it's a stark warning to active CG's if you don't stop. People really DO lose everything and arguably more important so do their poor families.
