Hi, my names Kyle,Â
Â
I have been gambling for a while on and off but have been staying away from it for quite some time now, and recently I have just relapsed big time and I’m scared to tell my girlfriend, luckily my mother will help me for essentials and I paid my bills straight away before gambling, but I need to tell her I have taken a big step back and I’m worried what she might say.Â
does anyone here even experienced similar and could you tell me your stories.Â
I’m getting help now because I hate the feeling you get when it’s all been lost and I’m hurting inside knowing I’m doing this to the people I love.Â
Â
The best thing you can do is tell her, if your getting help as well it will show her your being open and honest with her about your struggles. If you hide it that's when she will feel lied too. Don't let gambling ruin your relationship by hiding anything.
All the best
Hys
Hello Kyle,
Â
Thank you for sharing your situation.
Â
You have received some good advice here (and hopefully will potentially have some more peers offering perspectives). As you can see you are not alone. Having the support of those around you can genuinely help with both recovery outcomes and general mental health (not having the stress of juggling or hiding). It does often help when having a disclosure conversation with a loved one to say that you are proactively getting support in your recovery journey. That could be a peer support group and/or 1-2-1 support.
A good place to start to talk about your options (if you have not already) is to call or webchat to our Helpline anytime on 0808 8020 133.
Â
Best Wishes,
Louise

Just tell her. Yes, she'll be angry and upset but she will get over it and realise its only money after all. The main thing is to look after your own health and wellbeing. She will understand that.
