Hi

Has anyone used this to exclude from bookmakers? Is it successful? How does it work? Tried to call but they are not open until 9am.

There is supposed to be one number to cover a range of Bookies now. So far I have preferred to get round to them all. I do it with some pride and control. I had one faffing about and ringing head office but we got there in the end. Some want two pictures now and I always go back in and ensure that they have set it up properly. I dont make a scene and it is done in an amicable way and they wish me all the best.

I tell them I win every day by not going in

I joke about getting my picture on the wall but its a serious matter and I have found thet most bookies have an efficient scheme and neat files. They get good copies round to the other branches fast which I double checked on.

All I would say is dont let these people brow beat you self exclude with pride and stand for no nonsense. They have all been friendly enough and efficient doing it.

Best wishes to everyone on the forum

Thanks both. I spent about 40 minutes on the phone going over the local area and banning myself from 50+ bookies. I must admit I am sceptical at actually being recognised and kicked out of them even though I've banned myself, more so the ones I've not been in before. Does anyone have any experience of how effective it is? Are staff regularly looking at the photos of banned people?

I don't normally go in bookies any more but I had some time to kill while waiting for my train Leeds a while back so I went into the bookies (daft i know). After a while placing some bets and using the FOBT a member of staff asked me to leave as I had self excluded. It was of course a case of mistaken identity but as I say I had been in there a while and could potentially have lost a lot of money by then.

So it does work but to be fair to the staff i'm not sure how they are supposed to police this effectively in a busy shop.
