Why don't you suggest he contacts gam care and hopefully he gets some free councilling, I understand why you want to cut him lose as his stories may be triggers for you in your battle against relapse but just offer him advice and hope he makes the right choices.

We have all been there as CG 's and the only person who can decide they definitely want to stop is him,.

Maybe he doesn't know the options available so just educate him, but if he is still gambling advise him about the triangle, if he is serious about stopping he will take your advice and cut one out.

This is a very selfish addiction. You have to be selfish if you are serious about your recovery. You take care of 'number one' first. At the moment you are very early in your recovery. You did the right thing in casting him adrift. We can't help anybody unless we are well in recovery ourselves. You would have put yourself under too much pressure.

Focus on yourself first.
