Hi there I am 5 days clean and wanting to continue this way but what steps do gamcare advise to illiminate the chance of returning to the wicked ways ? Do we all have different reasons for doing what we do or is it something that you either have or you don't a gene or something hereditary .

Firstly, welcome to the forum - I've left a message for you on the front page of the 2014 Challenge thread on this section of the Gamcare site - just in case you were looking to join the team.
Your question is one I'd imagine that guys with brains the size of planets have tried to answer and understand........probably by people within the gaming industry to hook us in, as well as by those of us who have succumbed to the problem of gambling.
Just an opinion, but my view is pretty simple - we all have different reasons, we all have different problems, we are just different.......and as such there is no "one size fits all" answer to why we do it or how we stop. That's why recovery is a bespoke thing that sometimes takes a number of attempts and lost battles before you actually win the war. There are common themes though as was found out in a survey we did on the challenge thread a few weeks ago. None of it was scientific, but it certainly resonated with me and many other participants - have a read through it - it's on or around page 316 I think. Just this week we did another survey that you may find interesting to read the outcomes of.
