I'm only re-posting the message below as I think the thread I wrote on may be deleted and I think I have a valid point.

Can I just say briefly that one of my best friends is a manager at BF and he was pleased as punch when I self-excluded from his shop. He has a conscience and actually hates seeing people losing. I often ask him why he doesn't get another job in a different industry but that's his business. He has to deal with people screaming at the machines, hitting them, swearing at him, threatening him etc. He is a lovely fella and has been extremely supportive as I have embarked on my journey.

Phil , I totally agree with the above and as I stated on the thread you spoke of I have family in the industry , people just doing there job, earning a living and providing a service to those that require it .

They suffer daily abuse from punters who have a choice to gamble or not and who as staff have no control over the outcome of a race or Fobt machine .

I wish you well fella !

Thanks for responses. Like I said he is a great guy, works hard, the money he earns isn't great considering the responsibility he has plus he pretty much gets abused on a daily basis. It can be an extremely stressful job. Another point I would like to make is that I think it is wrong for female members of staff to do the evening shift on their own. A lot of punters (sorry to ramble) can be extremely aggressive even when they have lost relatively small amounts of money on those stupid machines.

Yep agree with that also Phil and good point , Female staff suffer some really bad abuse which I've witnessed myself , I treally can't understand why they ever removed the security glass from the counters , I'm all for a friendlier feel to a place but you have the combination of some angry people who've lost money and are sometimes under the influence and a female member of staff with access to an amount of cash , Crazy ?

Yep. I think the bad old days of bookies get held up are pretty much over because of all the cameras etc but boy have I seen some nasty behaviour in the day and evening. There is only one shop in my area with screens. Would love to know the word they blocked out in your message btw. Some funny rules on this forum!
