Just wondering if anyone can tell me if I join a site and then the next day join a second site operated by the same company should my responsible gambling setting be transferred to the second site I join?
Hello miller75
Thank you for posting your question. We're not a regulatory body, so can't answer your question directly. However, if you feel your experience with a gambling company has highlighted shortcomings in its responsible gambling procedures, you might find the following information from the Gambling Commission useful:

If you would like any support or treatment to help you with problem gambling, you are welcome to contact our HelpLine on 0808 8020 133 or by livechat. We're here 24/7.

Surely that's a question for the site operators.
This is a forum for helping to stop gambling, not on how sites work.Â
Simple answer is not to join the site or the second site.

I have to agree. Why are you posting such a question here? This is not a place to chat about technical gambling issues. You come here to seek help for your problems. I suggest you go to ask gamblers where you have a forum you can post on if you need to.
Â
Yes come on Miller.Â
What you will get here is tough love from people who care about you.
We are not here to advise on your active gambling decisions. Gambling is the most irresponsible thing you can do with money. Therefore the term "Responsible settings" or "responsible gambling" would be laughable if it wasnt so deadly serious. It plays right into the hands of the gambling dens who know that addicts cant stop anyway
The symptoms of your addiction is that you have joined at least two sites and seem to be looking for a get out clause for a bad session. You tell us would a responsible gambling setting have saved you? I know too much about this addiction to think such lightweight settings are any help for an activity which creates addicts fast
When you are ready to stop and talk more seriously we are here for you
Best wishes for a gamble free life from everybody on the forum
Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place and for not explaining properly.
The only reason I asked is because while I have been off work I ended up on gambling sites again, I joined one last week and spent more than I should have and afterwards I set my deposit limit to £10 per month.
The weekend came along and I ended up on another site and again spent more than I should have, it wasn't until I looked at my PayPal that I realized the 2 sites were operated by the same company.
I know there isn't a get out clause, I gambled and at the end of the day I have no one to blame but myself. It was more of a query because it seems like a big failing in the setting.
Sorry again if this was an inappropriate question
Ok thats much better an keep talking it through.
You have to face each step of your actions and tell a loved one if possible.
The addiction is based on cravings and delusions.
Gambling is not a cure for boredom depression anxiety loneliness or anything else you care to mention. Are you thinking that getting a bit of free money will cheer you up...youve missed the bit about risking your own money on odds set well against you
You had no control which shows a compulsion or addiction and then set a deposit limit afterwards when in a fit of remorse
Then you went to another site knowing the deposit limit was extremely unlikely there and gambled again.
This addiction laughs at half hearted measures. I have lived with no electricity on for a week eating cold baked beans (only one per day mind at 33p each...gotta make £2.67 last!!) and still been back gamblingÂ
The addiction is complex and extremely powerful. You now need to start learning what you are dealing with and seek some help.
Write down your losses and tell people. Focus! Its not an income scheme and a gambling addition will destroy you
If that sounds strong you need to realise what this addition does to people. You may think you can handle it now but it gets worse and worse until you see no way out.
Take it easy put proper blocks on and more importantly restrict your access to cash. I would stop you. The question is are you ready to let the light in
Best wishes from everyone on the forum
