Hi all,
Its been a good while since I have been active on the forum. Over the last few months I have had many, many ups and downs. I've gone 4/5 weeks without placing a bet, to losing £100 in about 20 minutes. Anyway.. to cut a long story short.. I am now in a, relatively, good place. Haven't gambled in a good few weeks, K9 software installed on my laptop, I've even created accounts with just about every online bookmaker I could find just to immediately self exclude.
The one probelm I am having, however, is that when I'm on my own and not with friends/family, I find that all I can think about is gambling. I am a huge football fan and whenever I check the results after a card of fixtures my immediate thought is 'I would have chosen them them and them'. I actually find it difficult to check the fixtures before kick offs as I fear I'll jump into my nearest bookies and place a cash bet!
Does anyone have any advice on how I would be able to focus my attention elsewhere? I would like to stress that I am in no way, shape or form going to place a bet... I almost feel I am over my gambling issue, but I can't stop thinking about it and it's getting me down!
Any help would be hugely appreciated.

There are no magic fixes, it is all about changing your thinking. Your mind only thinks of the winners you have missed out on - pretty easy after the results - but obviously not the times you would have lost! Every time I see a late goal or whatever I always think that some poor soul is going to be suffering for that.
To be honest you will only ever be over your gambling problem when you no longer have a gambling "mindset" i.e. when gambling no longer plays any part in your thinking.
When i went back to GA the last time i knew that my gambing was getting worse
i could see it
This problem wasn't just going away and i do think about it often
Wish i didn't but i can live with that
keep being honest with yourself

To focus your attention elsewhere, look for something that is worth focusing on. You're a football fan... would it be possible to spend some time _playing_ football? Or {your idea here}.
Affected by gambling?
