Hi everyone! I'm new to this, having only recently (after years of gambling) come to accept I have a serious problem. I'm retired with a total income of 1800 per month with nothing but food to buy out of it for myself and my husband. You'd think I would have plenty left to save etc but I am in serious debt through slots on line - every on line site providing Double Bubble or Cleopatra has me well and truly hooked!! This is my first day (I so hope) gamble free as I don't have any funds - Some words of encouragement would be good as I start my journey - PLEASE!

i could have 18000 or 180'000 a month and as a compulsive gambler i'd always be skint

Some words of encouragement? There is hope.

There is help. There is happiness.

Why not give gam care a ring on the number above?

Thanks Triangle! I would give Gamcare a ring but I actually can't face up to talking to anyone about my gambling addiction! Seems easier to post messages etc. I haven't told anyone - my husband found out about my gambling a couple of years ago and helped me out with cash to pay my debts but I gambled it - thousands!!....I still have the debts but have succeeded in keeping them secret from him. Such hard work! This has tostop - the only time I feel better about myself is when I have NO money (I've spent it all on slots) and can't play slots. Soon as I have a bit of cash I blow it away,I win and blow that too. I'm ging to keep checking in on this site, I feel it will help me as long as I put out of my min the thousands I have lost and just look to the future.

Hi Helen, and welcome

I know the feeling you'd get. I've been addicted to online casinos and slots too. Not to your extent, but I just didn;t know when to stop and walk away. I used to play for entertainment, but soon became addicted.

I've not self excluded from all sites and also from the main shops so its gonna be pretty hard for me to gamble.

I know you;ve commented on my thread, to be honest, I'm only on here posting, because I was thinking of checking if my self exclusion from a poker site had ran out. This is a good place to come to, to keep yourself occupied.

And that's the crux of it, you have to get new hobbies, new interests and keep yourself busy.

I'm 32, and have a gf. I work usually between 9 and 6, but I've now tried to make specific plans for most nights of the week, so I'm not bored. Monday, I see family, Tuesday is a dvd night with gf, Wednesday is snooker night, Thursday quiet night with gf, Friday night we go for dinner, Saturday is usually out with friends and Sunday see family again.

I'll be 4 weeks tomorrow without a bet. I'd been gambling for over 10 years. I don't have big debts, just a near 4 figure sum on a credit card, still enough to hover over me, but I know I need to get saving for my future.

Good luck, there is hope, and this website can help a lot.
