I fully believe that we can learn from past mistakes and move on but am really struggling with getting my head round the wasted time and money I've lost to gambling. Oh how I wish I could turn the clock back and never put on that first bet. Am sure as well the past relapses I've had have been largely down to resuming the chase to try erase the many thousands I've lost to gambling. I now feel I've hit a block where i can't be positive due to the burden of a) being in debt and b) thinking what I could've and should've done with the money rather than squander it so stupidly.

Hopefully some wise words can lift my flagging spirits 🙁

We've all been there, thinking that because we are in debt we need to get that big win to erase the stupid bets we've done in the past. But then how many are on this website complaining that they have got deeper in debt from doing just that.

I'm 15k in debt, at first it was a shock to the system and I was so angry at how I got here, you just want to turn back time. But now 50 days on from my last bet I have accepted that I will have this debt for a while but want to live normally again, so still treat myself every now and again. No need to pay the debt off quickly I'm only paying 250 a month but id lose more than that gambling and still have some left to start a saving account too.

I now see it as a very expensive lesson in life but one that I am stronger having been through. All the best.

Hi mile end.

Im very new to this forum and giving up gambling business. Im 20 years old and in about 5k debt, im in the same situation as you. Im so gutted about losing all the money I have lost, I wish I could just turn back time. The only thing that is getting me through this, is thinking time will heal the money and I will feel better about myself. Giving it up now will mean you can start to eat away at your debt instead of getting deeper in it

Keep going and don't give in!

Jack

Thanks I need keep positive and think that when that day does come when I'm debt free I will be able to look back with pride having conquered the demons within, Jack I'm in my 30's and wish I'd been wise enough to wake up to the situation when I was 20. Stick with it and you'll be sorted long before my age.

Hi mile end. What you describe is common amongst all of us. Yes it would be great if we could have all the cash back we gambled but that will never happen. The more we gamble the more we lose, this is something experience has shown me time and again.

No win no matter how big was ever enough to satisfy my hunger to win more, this is the reason why i always lost in the end. If you don't gamble you have a chance to become debt free. All it takes is to remain gambling free for 24 hours and to take each day at a time.
