Guys

thought I'd just post a few thoughts. Sat here just before bed and got stuff running around in my head. Been gamble free for 8 days now. Still struggling to come to terms with losses. Going back 6 weeks ago was in a great position. Was on a massive winning streak. I can't get my head around it.

its like a theif in the night it happens when you least expect it. Your like someone else when your gripped by it in the moment. The only way I can keep myself from these horrible flashbacks and regret is to treat it like an illness which it no doubt is. You cannot apply any logic to it. As a GC we musnt let ourselves get in these situations and total abstinence is the only way for us.

It's horrible the monies gone but I have to let it go and be thankful for what I've still got and build on that.

i wish everyone who reads this a good weekend and enjoy your time and stay away from all forms of gambling.

Gary

Gary dont try to get your head around it....put it behind you as it was never meant to be. Plan for all your tomorrows instead. I am telling myself every day that come payday my life is going to get better because I will have money in my pocket for a whole month instead of just 1 week and I will be able to live comfortably when not gambling my last penny.

Have a great weekend 🙂

Hi Gary, the same thing happened to me over the summer, I had a great winning streak and everything felt great. Of course I should have realised with experience what would happen and that my luck would run out. Every day I am angry with myself for not putting some of it away and not end up losing it all but as you say there is no logic to it. Not gambling for me has been easy compared to trying to cope mentally with what I have done to myself.

6 Weeks ago you were in a REALLY bad position because that winning streak was poisoning your brain... winning is poison because it allows you to fool yourself ...

8 days is great. Go ahead and claim credit for A FULL WEEK in all caps bold font! And then steady on course for 9 days eh?

Bravo! Talk to me about TWO WEEKS real soon eh?

P.S. It gets easier as you go along. For now, though, not only energy but also creativity is called for. Use all the tools at your disposal: cognitive insight, removing stimuli, avoiding dangerous places, forums, chat rooms, not having a computer in the house, blocking, self-exclusion, burning your credit cards, -- whatever works , USE IT
