Having our eyes open enough to see events outside of our spinning lights is surely a big part of recovery? Caring enough to feel emotional about it, the same! Recovery for me is about being a better me, most of my diary posts are about cleaning (or lack of) & eating, does that mean there's no place for them here?

It's a good question - and it's a line we have to try and navigate on this forum, expecially for older members who wish to talk about their lives more generally. I'd say that these things in a person's diary are one thing as they are personal to you and your life in recovery, but this is a thread which was set up in the 'Overcoming Problem Gambling' section for thoughts on gambling addiction and recovery. We aren't here for members to debate things such as terrorism and why it happens - it weakens the role of the forum and may make newer members feel they are not in the right place if what they are looking for is material on overcoming a gambling problem. There are other places on the internet for general debate and I think its fair to enforce that here for the good of everyone.

Hope you can understand that sometimes we need to draw a line and ask people to move on.

But I think we haven't changed much since our distant cavemen. But, now our caves are addictions, just as dark, and rather than use a cave to save us from the tyrannosaurus, we now use addictions ( caves ) to save us from our uncomfortable emotions.....paper tyrannosaurus.

Dan, you seem to be in a bad mood of late. Albeit I agree again with your thoughts, but there's also a thing called bad timing and also thoughts should some times just stay in ones head. Also will remind you of a golden rule which has been around for a long time but, there's two subjects that shouldn't be talked about at a bar. Ones politics and the other is ? ....

Just like the Stone Age, or the Ice Age etc, we've hit a new Age and that is the Anxiety Age with a new religion to boot and it's called ' terror, terror, terror '
