Time wasted…

When I have free time, to chill and relax - I go to my mobile and bet.

I bet on horse races. By name, sometimes, odds. I tell myself a 8/1+ horse hasn’t won, find a reason, a jockey to back an outsider and lose. I can lose 3 to 4 hours doing this.

I’ve had enough, my partner is disgusted and I need to find something else fo fill that void, when bored.

I also go on twitter and there are lots of ads or accounts “ive won X amount…” and I think that could be me.

I am off for a 3 week holiday at the weekend, something we’ve saved hard for - USA. However in the last 3 week I have lost around £300. Could have used that as spending money.

I think I’m looking for solutions to the pointless / aimless login on and betting on random horses or jockey silks! When I step back and reflect - I think it’s mad!

I’ve gambled, as the name says for many, many years. Mobile betting has taken my habit to new levels.

thanks for reading. Having lost another £70 today - my partner is going to be so angry and I have to face that music. This habit will destroy everything.

I should add, I bet for the sake of betting.

not because I want to. Not because I enjoy the win, I don’t really win, because I will rebet until I lose. It’s lose, lose.

Hello GamblingAnoun,

Welcome back to the forum, and well done for using this space to help you to progress towards recovery.

As you mentioned you are looking to move on from online betting on your mobile, you might like to call us for free access to GamBan blocking software, as well as registering with GamStop for self-exclusion and using your banking App to block spending on gambing sites:

You mentioned that you sometimes get triggered by advertising, so here are a few links for options that may be of interest:

You might like to consider what other activities you could schedule to avoid boredom, or activities to manage challenging feelings, for example many of our forum members have mentioned scheduling exercise to manage stress and balance mood, or other hobbies to focus their attention away from betting.

Please call us for a chat at any time, our freephone 0808 8020 133 is 24 hours.

Take care,

Hang in there bro, it sounds like you're having a very tough go of it. One thing id say is you're not alone. We all feel the same...

I'd give anything to roll back time and take back that bet that got me into this mess, but hindsight is a beautiful thing. We are where we are and we need to seek the help that is available to us and become better people. Take heart of the wise words of Oliver Cromwell "Who can love to walk in the dark? But Providence doth often so dispose".
