If like me your main problem was with the horses this week will be a tough week. Cheltenham was my favourite week of the year and would fill me full of excitement. We all have different barriers and different ways of dealing with things. I hope everyone is coping ok and manages to negotiate this week without any slip ups.

A friend of mine who I no longer see as he is a bad influence on my gambling used to say he could still watch the races on tv as it was sport and he enjoyed it. For me this approach would end up with me back in a bookies, I don't want to hear about any horses, see any of it or hear any results. Deep down maybe part of me would be interested in finding out who won the Gold Cup on Friday, but I need to try to avoid this as it won't help me.

This time last year I would have been on my computer looking at the race form and picking out my bets. I would hardly sleep all night, I would be buzzing and full of excitement. This year I am pleased to say I have no idea whats running, I am not missing gambling and I don't want to see any race cards for tomorrow. I have time booked off work for a trip up to Scotland which I am really looking forward to and wouldn't be happening if I was still a gambler!

So if anyone needs to let off steam this week maybe this is a good place to do it. We are all in the same boat, we cant win because we cant stop. So lets not let this weeks events suck us back in. Theres more to life than Cheltenham, we can all be strong and beat the urges.

The best banker of the week for all of us is keeping well away from the bookies!

Wish I had on joined here before today as would of seen this post and it might have helped me stop myself slipping back into this terrible habit.

Had given up betting the past 5 months but the hype surrounding Cheltenham sucked me in and I was back betting on it the past week. By time the 2nd race came about today I had spent everything including my sisters money. Feel like I'm back to rock bottom but have signed up here and I will beat it this time

I wish I had came on here before this week too. My last bet was on October 16th and I was feeling great. I blew 12 weeks worth of wages just on this week. I have now self excluded myself from every gambling website. I feel pretty down at the minute as I have little money left. However, I have to look back and say I was able to give it up for nearly 6 months and that I can do it again!
