Gaz and Alan, thankyou for the kind words, your more than welcome to join us!

Mixer, again a great effort with organising this and the above table, brilliant.

Like you said, as long as we are all honest here we can help, support and guide each other through this.

I am very proud to be part of this group of people who are determined to change for the better.

It's Saturday evening and I'm in work so it's gonna be day 16 tomorrow for me and I'm very busy all day tomorrow so day 17 will be a breeze!

Huge huge welcome to our new groupies....Strength in numbers folks...Strength in numbers!

Checking in... We CAN and We Will!

Sunday morning - Another cathartic day yesterday, out for a few beers with friends (who were all betting on the football). Watched the mania from a distance, listened to their hopes and dreams then watched them fade away.

Talked openly with people that i know but wouldnt call friends and explained the reason for my abstinence, every time i tell someone i am a compulsive gambler in recovery i feel another weight lifted from me. The more people that know, the more the pressure on me to stop.

Really starting to have meaningful conversations with my wife about triggers and behaviours, but dont think she will ever fully understand (or trust)...that is all down to me to address through actions and consistancy.

Over and above talking openly my big focus is my spreadsheet, which i update religiously every morning.

Every single bill to be paid is on there, as is weekly expenditure and living expenses.

I really dont know what sort of car crash Christmas would of been had i not stopped when i did !

Now it is manageable and can be enjoyed.

I registered with Mycreditmonitor and faced up to my horrific credit rating too, i have contacted even dormant debts and have agreed to clear them all over a 12 month period by direct debits, this time next year i can have at least a neutral rating, possibly even moving into a positive one.

I am planning two weekends away at the end of January and Feburary, and a family summer holiday in June as well as new beds, carpets and a runaround car for my wife.

All of this can be achieved this year, and more if i just keep on this path.

It doesnt even feel like a lonely path anymore, as the darkness lifts, the sunshine is starting to make the journey more enjoyable as in the distance i am beginning to visualise my destination.

I am still sure many who know me see this as a fad, but to me that doesnt matter as through time they will get used to the new me, the me i like, the me i trust, the me im proud of.

Have a great Sunday, take a moment to be proud of the ground travelled so far and smile 🙂

Good morning everyone. Here's a thought - work hard, play hard. We are all working hard to keep our gambling-free status, and so fully deserve to enjoy this status every day. Now, this is a challenge and a tough one but, day-to-day, we can do it, together. It is going to be a roller coaster at times; and if you want to share how you're feeling in this safe, anonymous environment, then please do.

Gaz9 - thank you for your message. You're just starting out, your first target is to stop today, and at least to Christmas. Give you and your loved ones the best gift of all; the knowledge that you are choosing life, and not misery. It will benefit you - and them!

Alan - likewise, great to hear from you again. Always enjoy your posts and thank you for the best wishes.

KP - hey, great to hear all is well and your resolve super-strong. It has to be, and forever. You are repairing your life, but you've got to keep it fixed - forever 🙂 Keep GF - as WCAWW chairman you have a duty and I know are not going to let us down. EVER.

Wardle - thank you for checking in, delighted you are GF for another today. Can you see through Sunday? Of course you can, and will.

M, no need to ever apologise and another day GF ticked off. I honestly believe your gambling days are over; you have chosen life, and taking huge strides to what will be a much happier 'you'. You have an inner strength that is going to overwhelm any urges, and we are all so behind you, day to day, forever!

Sbb, I'll reset you back at the score to the (terrific) day count of 75. Thanks for simplifying my admin duties 🙂

Rogerson, please get in touch so we can see you're OK. You dont have a thread so we're unable to ascertain your progress. We look out for each other here. If you've wobbled let us know; we will support you. If you're not serious about stopping, let us know, no problem, we can release you from the group, no hard feelings. Just drop us a post though, we care!

Anon - thank you for you message, on Day 82, doing fantastically well. Your support is most welcome and we all wish you continued success as you march toward triple digits!

WCAWW!

P.S. I've just seen your new post (above) Sbb and taking time to read it. It's bl--dy good.

Hi, what a fantastic and supportive thread. Can I join please? I'm currently on day 14. Been an online gambler for the last 5/6 years. I was addicted to certain slots, playing less over time but causing more damage. This time I am more determined than ever!.

Thanks
