I'm in a bit of a reflective mood today; don't know why. I'm sure we all feel the same way from time to time. What I do, when feeling a bit sad, or weak, is dive onto the Gamcare forums. What I find uplifting, more than anything, are the stories where we are doing our damnedness to both come to terms and deal with our situations, sometimes despite quite severe pressures.
I love reading about fellow gamblers helping, empathising and encouraging people through. Immediately, I really feel better. Because I truly believe that being part of a team really helps us as we discover our true selves as we strive to be Gambling Free. Yes, of course, we need support, practical steps and an inner will, but anything we can do that helps has got to help!
Being GF, as we are today (and resolve to be tomorrow), makes us enlightened and think more clearly about the world around us. It helps focus on our underlying issues, and help us deal with them in the most constructive way. It means we are not putting barriers in the way; for example, (further) damaging our finances or 'hating' ourselves.
Sbb, your earlier post was a terrific one and I agree everything you say. I love the way you put things: "
Here we are in the middle of January, not normally perhaps a favourite month for many, but this is the first month of the rest of our lives GF. Just imagine the possibilities! Remember - if you think you'll hit 100 days, then you will go GF for 100 days.
Sbb, you hit this fantastic milestone tomorrow. And when you do, join us all, hand-in-hand, as we walk with determination to our collective 100 day target. We are all doing this together! And thank you for your updates!
And Markman, welcome to Day 1! I'll add you to our rollcall tomorrow. Let's see you hit 100.
*** JOKE OF THE DAY ***
An old Dave Allen classic...
We spend our lives on the run and by the clock. We get up by the clock. We eat by the clock. We sleep by the clock, then get up, go to work, always by the clock - and then, one day, we retire.
And what do they give us when we retire?
A ****ing clock!

Hi Sbb
Very good to see you are planning on attending GA. Statistically speaking it has the highest success rate of any method for maintaining recovery and it will keep you grounded. In admitting you are powerless over gambling you've already recognised one of the twelve steps. Good stuff 🙂
Stuffed on home made wedges spicy rice and chicken wings and also day 58 gf
Great posts mixer and sbb. Checking in as GF today... it's not been easy for me, even though technically and rationally it should be... just finding it hard to cope emotionally without my go to form of escapism and hope, even if it was false, for the future (I used to really believe one day I would win a progressive jackpot on online slots).. Still, I can't afford to go back and I don't want to go back. WCAWWAWA.
Life throws a lot of c**P at most of us but as long as we guys and gals here don't turn to the dark side again take each day gf as a positive and the more we genuinely want to do it it can only get better this forum is a godsend too .The mist will clear one day and we can all have a brighter future keep going don't give up WCAWW
Nice post jayd
Hi all. Still here just back on nights. Hope everyone is well.
Off to bed now guys hope to catch up soon.
Morning everyone. I hope you're all well. I had a 'penny drop' this morning - I've been neglecting my career; I've fallen behind and that's because my gambling had crippled my confidence. I felt worthless and incompetant. I'm now realising that, actually, I am competant and am going to go for a promotion. I might get one, I might not; but I'm actively going to go for it for once. Better late than ever, and it's about time I had another challenge. It does mean, though, that I have to remain GF. That's the condition ...
I realise this post is about 'me' but hope it inspires you as you look to what we are you really capable of in life, without this hideous and damaging barrier constantly getting in the way.
Here's hoping to you have a good day. Wrap up warm, and remember, being GF automatically gives you another layer of protection 🙂 🙂 🙂
We CAN and We WILL!
Checking in for the day gamble free! Had a dream last night that I had gambled, remember running around feeling shame and disgust in myself and trying to cover my tracks. Glad it was only a dream! It might have something to do with the fact I started watching Westworld the last couple of days lol!
All the best to everyone!
Checking in.
Day 45.
My profile said 46 because it asked for the last day I gambled which surely doesn't count as a GF day so I've changed it.
Many thanks for the welcome Mixer!
Day 2 here we go. This thread is a simple yet inspirational idea. Have never felt so motivated.
100 days on its own would be life-changing. 98 to go.
Gonna make it!

No complacency, I will have to be on guard every day for the rest of my life.
I will never gamble again, it is now my enemy.
