Hi LHN,

Good morning and really sorry to hear you've been in the wars over the last week or so.

I hope your lovely little dog is recovering under your watchful and loving eye.

And don't forget to take a few deep breaths yourself; you are in the midst of the early days of getting your life back, quietly determined, day by day. Don't forget that, despite everything around you, some of which you can control and some of which you can't - you are doing a good, positive thing here.

This is the place to express how you're feeling so write as often, and as lengthy, as you feel you need to!

We care, are your friends, and, as you say, all in anonymity, too - which I hope you find both cathartic and strangely liberating!

Take care of yourself LHM and if you're ever feeling down, or need to express any feelings you have, then always share. There are 30 of us who dip in to our thread here every day. You - and we - are never alone!

16th Jan was GF for me, and first day back at work was managable.

Interesting day today as 'the other half' is attending her own counselling regarding her drinking today.

Not sure what that might open up, but its the first positive step regarding this in 25 years, and firmly believe it is happening because she sees me meaning business (and getting better).

All this counselling - we should be living in LA rather than the UK 🙂

Have a good day all

Mixer,

My head is not in the right place at the moment and i am not in a position to carry on with your challenge.

I am still gamble free so no worries on that front but i will be stopping my GC contributions for a bit.

I wish you and all participants well

Bal x

***ROLLCALL OF SUCCESS ***

You might be last on our rollcall, Wardal, but tonight you're first in our eyes, having hit the big 50 days GF! Enjoy the vino, and the pampering, nice hot bath and our hearty congratulations 🙂 !

Good evening everyone and, as always, thank you for checking in!

Did you know that today is meant to be the most miserable day of the year? Blue Monday, they call it. But when you're GF, it isn't actually; it's simply another day - gambling free. Another day without guilt. Another day without having to act furtively, or lying. It's a day of pride. It's a another day where we put another building block in place. Another day of gaining further self-respect. We COUNT. We MATTER.

Blue Monday? Paah. Today is, or has been, the first day of the rest of our lives! And we have another one, just the same, tomorrow.

Yes. We may be skint.

Yes. This month seems like it's lasting forever...

But - let's look at what we *have* got. And what we've gained. For example - we are all part of an exclusive group - the 100 day challenge group.

It's fascinating, isn't it - we are totally anonymous yet are getting to know each other really well. What price can you put on the friendships that are developing here? Things are looking up, everyone. Blue Monday has just been officially booted into the bin!

*** JOKE OF THE DAY ***

A judge tells the defendant, “You’re charged with attacking your boss with a hammer.”

“You idiot!” yells a voice from
the back of the courtroom.

“You’re also charged with attacking a barman with a hammer,”
says the judge.

“Prat!!!” bellows the same man.

“Sir,” says the judge, “one more outburst, and I’ll charge you with contempt.”

“I’m sorry, Your Honour,” says the man. “But I’ve been this j**k’s neighbour for ten years, and every time I asked to borrow a hammer, he said he didn’t have one!”

WCAWW - remember, if you think you will hit 100 days on this challenge - then you will hit 100 days on this challenge. A proven psychological fact.

P.S. Really liking your motivation Moorey - really want to see you hit the big 100 OK - you know it matters 🙂

thanks to all for the continued support accross the forum and on this page.

Checking in this week gamble free and with continued furver

Day 17 has been gamble free.

Feeling stronger and more resiliant as each day passes, whilst at the same time not taking anything for granted.

I owe it all to this forum and this challenge. Once again I thank you Mixer for all the hard work you put in to this. You're making a massive difference to peoples lives and giving hope, belief and determination that you can succeed.

I never thought I'd get to 2 days gamble free, let alone 17!

I've never been 17 days gamble free since I first started gambling 12 years ago.

I've tried many times to reign in my gambling and to quit altogether but I've never been successful.

I'm desperate for that 100 days (and beyond!).

I truly believe I can achieve this now!

Errrrrrrr,

I'm sorry everyone but I have failed. If you could remove me from the count I would appreciate that. I was struggling to get through the month, sold an item in a well known selling site and instead of using the proceeds to pay some bits I deposited, not much but all the same I did it. I feel so bad and currently feeling scared of myself if that makes sense. Scared I can't do this even though I want to. I hope to return with a super positive attitude but right now can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. Continue with your battle peoples...I wish I was there with you x

Sorry to hear that Lady H.

You've proved to yourself though that you can do 16 days without any form of gambling.

Regather your thoughts and think up a new game plan. Blockers? Sef exclusion? Counselling?

It all depends on how much you want it.

I'm sure every one of us here has fallen off the wagon at some stage or another over the last few months.

We're all with you Lady H, let's come back stronger!

Keep believing! A gamble free life is where you want to truly be.

That's where the real winners in life belong.
