Im new to online gambling. Been gambling on slots last june due to morning sickness. I was on bed rest and got bored. I was very careful and won at least 2000usd. However in 30mins i lost approx 700usd in my winnings in 30mins. My capital still intact. Should i try to chase the loss or leave it?
Hello Babyshopph,
Welcome to the forum and well done for posting about your experience. It sounds like you are concerned about your gambling because recently you spent a lot of money on online gambling in a matter of minutes. You are asking should you 'Chase the loss'; I guess you may have read some of our forum posts where members describe how a pattern of chasing has been involved in how their gambling has been problematic for them. Another way to get perspective could be to use our self-assessment questionaire: http://www.gamcare.org.uk/get-advice/self-assessment-tool
It might be that you haven't yet been harmed by your gambling, but perhaps your recent spending on online gambling has been a wake-up call for you, alerting you to the potential to lose perspective when gambling online, and the risk of losing control over spending on gambling online. How would you feel about putting some limits on your gambling or spending? You could look at this section for ideas: http://www.gamcare.org.uk/get-advice/what-can-you-do Some people allow a family member to supervise their spending, or put their money out of reach, as a way to reduce risk of overspending. Some people schedule other activities if they decide to take a break from gambling, or install blocking software if they anticipate that it will be difficult for them to avoid slipping back into online gambling.
You mention dollars so perhaps you are based outside Britain, so you might also like to look at https://www.gamblingtherapy.org/en
Take care,
Forum admin.
