Hi all I have posted a couple of times the past few days about finally reaching rock bottom qith my problem. You may have seen my other posts and I am yet to tell my partner. I really don't want to tell him this side of xmas as the past 2 xmas's have been c**P because of me and I just want him to enjoy this one for our daughter. I am trying to hold off my landlord until my partner gets paid on xmas eve, rwnt was due yesterday and have fobbed him off for now but I don't know how long he will wait. Silly idea I know but I just can't do this to my partner at xmas again! I am wanting to put some plans in place so when I do tell him, if he doesn't leave me that is, I have some plans of sorting things ready. I need to know what can I do about my debt? I don't even know how much my debt is tbh, I have been gambling for 9 years and every single bit of credit I have had has been effed up! I know I must have at least £25,000 worth of debt! Who do I contact, what can I get? IVA? Etc? Thanks to anyone who can offer advise xxx

I'm sorry I don't have the answers to your questions, but if you can hold off telling him this side of Xmas I would! I'm guessing you have had plenty of time to tell him why do it now, new year new start, it's sounds like you have been though a lot together I'm sure he will help you how ever he can, just don't gamble any more please.

Tell me about it, I've just had to post my own thread, I hope I can be strong enough to get tonight over without playing.

Siobhan, phone the helpline! They should be able to give you some pointers but I'm pretty sure I have seen posts on this...Have a look @: www.nationaldebtline.org

Maybe being honest with the landlord, about not having the money until Christmas Eve would be a start...He can't physically throw you out as you are protected & it would take weeks to sort anything legally by which time you will have caught up the arrears!

Hi,

Stepchange manage all my debts and will negotiate mostly freezing interest accumulating any further.

I pay them a fixed amount and they divide it up between the creditors. They also don't charge a fee.

Give them a call. It stops any letters or phone calls you may get asking for payment.

Worth a try.

Best wishes
