Right here it goes again !! There no point written a huge text because everyone has the same issue , at the moment it's bad !! Just got a new job as engineer and being paid around 2,000 , this is were going wrong , the more I get paid the more I gamble , lost around 1,300 within a week by online and casino . Before it was try odd 100 but now turning into taking 500 out bank to bet , the thing is when I win big I don't see it as money just want more and more ! Not saying I will never bet again just want to control limit , anyone got and info on how to control limits and still have good time. Thank a lot for help
Im the same, the more I get paid the more I gamble. You need to move any money you have available to an account that does not allow unlimited access to your cash. Alternatively, you can give control of your money to someone you trust.
Unfortunately, we are not all wired the same way and you may not be able to gamble again. Some of us are compelled to chase our losses and try and get our money back. I wish I recognised I had a problem when I was 20. I would be in a much better state financially.
Hi Harry and welcome to the forum . The truth is is the bad news I'm afraid , you like the rest of us are a compulsive gambler !. Sorry but you won't control it , it controls you and thats why your where you are now !. The good news for you my friend , is that being 20yrs old , your not in such a bad place after all . You've realised at an early age that you have a gambling problem and have sought help . If you read some of the diary's on this site , you will notice how some have given up for a while , or tried as you say to control there betting . Unfortunately once you have got used to betting in large amounts , you just wont get the same buzz with smaller stakes , and it will get much worse and you will certainly end up in a much worse place , than you feel you are now . The reason we can't win as compulsive gamblers is that we cant stop . Enough is never enough !. It stops being about the winning , just about the rush . You alredy said "I dont see it as money, just want more and more " , so you've already noticed that effect already , have you not ?. You have a good job , which pays well , be happy , there's no magic pot at the end of a gambling rainbow as all of my brothers and sisters on this site will agree , only misery, debt and lies, which will get worse the longer you bet . Sorry for the long lecture but I have wasted many years , in fact as many as you have been born thinking just the way you think now . The best advice you could have from me now , is to exclude yourself from as many bookies as you can , use blocking software if you bet online and limit your access to money as best you can . Let the past go , dont chase your losses , It's gone and you will only lose more if you go after it !!. I hope you choose the right path for your life Harry because if you dont , you will end up in bad debt , miserable and end up lying to cover everything you do . It gets that bad mate . I make no apologies for being blunt , I only hope you make the right choice . Good luck for now buddy , if you need to talk with anyone we're all here . !!! Alan who will not gamble today !!
Only been on the site for 2 days and your 2 comments are brilliant ! Just the honest truth from both of you and that's what I need ! I agree with Alan I don't see it as money just the thrill and buzz , at the end of the day I don't need the money if I have it . I went from fun to enjoyment playing that's when I no problem playing cause I enjoy it waste money for the sake of it ? It's hard to say at this point I won't gamble again ?
It's all fun and exciting when we first start Harry , thats why we do it, if we win it just adds to the excitement and then it turns into an addiction and so the problem begins !, I managed for many years and it wasn't a problem for me , I could take it or leave it and didn't chase my losses . But something changes in us , where we go over the edge and cant go back , it's never the same after that . You may still think of it as fun or entertainment but it becomes an expensive way of entertaining yourself , You take £500 from your account , think about that for a minute ? , You could have had a week in the sun for that mate !. Thats entertainment , thats enjoying yourself !!. Try not to think about never gambling again , sometimes looking too far ahead is too scary !. Instead put the blocks in the way , then you wont be tempted when you walk past your old betting haunts !. Then just take little steps Harry , one day at a time , days turn to weeks ,then to months It's that easy . Right enough rambling from me , Off to see Jimmy Carr tonight and thats entertainment !!! Take care Bud !! Alan
if you want to have a life, just stop gambling from right now, don't chase loses. i am 37, i wished i stoped gambling at 20, it will save me 40000 pounds. you can watch others play, but never play yourself. all gambler will lose in the end.
