Hello mate,

I have just finished reading "The Gambler" by Fyodor Dostoevsky and thought of you, I think you would enjoy it like I did.

Good luck with the week ahead Sean.

The bookies are only open at nights for the machines so once the stakes are capped most will close , which is good news for lots of people.

Hi all

Let’s hope there is a time where we can walk down a high street and see just the odd bookie here and there. The FOBT’s have a lot to answer for, in Manchester City centre alone there are 55 bookies. All stopping open until late and attracting all sorts, even the staff at these bookies don’t like working late.

Bottom line for us on here is, they can bring out all the legislation they like, the gambling industry is not getting richer with our money. For too long they have had it their own way, advert after advert about gambling, which incidentally are banned in some European countries.

Well said Shaun!
Happy 60th Gamble Free Day!
Keep going.. Those ads are annoying. Today on TV channels I've counted 19 ads for gambling sites. Its disgusting. We should refuse to pay our TV licences or be able to sue them. And all hours to. Kids shouldn't see these kind of sites, we are brought up on getting shiny stars at school, or the bright colour cartoons that keep the kids glued. And those tunes like that shark baby song.
Clever people these that have the sites and give a promise. I am hearing them and shouting sarcasm at the telly.

Goodnight

Hi guys

60 days today, a good start but only a start. Looking forward to doing the next 60 days with some life lessons from Allen Carr.

1. Gambling is a clever con trick.

2. No will power is required as I am not giving anything up but the opposite, liberating myself.

3. I will never question my decision not to gamble.

4. I will not have that first bet.

Take care.

Hi guys

Here is to fast forwarding to Monday, when we have all had a gamble free weekend. If you get tempted at all, just remind of yourself of that satisfying moment you will get a after a couple of days.

Hi, I’ve just made my first post on here, mainly after reading this thread and looking at all the links and other useful information shared about what you’ve all learned/found useful - it’s been enlightening and very powerful stuff for me, so thank you!

Shaun I think you’ve done, and are doing remarkably well so keep up the good work, and I love the little posts to keep us all on track over the weekends 🙂 you probably don’t know how important those words of encouragement are, so thanks again!

Thanks for the messages guys, stopping gambling was always a struggle for me unitil I read the Allen Carr book. Things are looking up for me, 62 days gamble free and after today’s weigh in, losing 16lbs in 6 weeks on slimming world, another 2 stone to go.

If we do get tempted, just think of that gut wrenching, zombie state feeling we get after a loss, NO THANKS.

Stay safe and keep racking up those gamble free days.

Hi guys

64 days today, not that counting, lol!

Let’s all start the week off with renewed/continued hope that we will beat gambling. Good news for us, we are not gambling, bad news for the gambling industry, they are not getting richer off us, ha, ha.
