sat here itching for a bet. Been 48 hours now and starting to feel the cold turkey kick in..........
going to try and listent to music for distraction
Feelings (My mind thinks it can win money to pay debts back Friday)
still fighting this and seems to get harder
staying strong tho
Stay strong Graeme - I listen to music too pal. It seems to distract me quite well if I flick through youtube.
Cheers mate. Glad u replied, mind going crazy here!!! horrible this....
It's tough mate but the only other option is worse misery and you nor I want that so stay focused. Don't even think about gambling just get your head dont for sleep and when you wake up you'll have completed the day and then what happens?... we go again... and we tick off each hour that the day bring. Eventually the habit will be broken.
Another good one is watching some comedy - I don't know what you like but anything works for me... Chris Rock, Dave Chapelle, Steve Hughes, Bill Burr...
Cheers again mate, listening to Killers. Will put some Chubby Brown on soon. Mad thing is, i graduate tommorow as a nurse and all i can think off is gambling! So glad i have got to speak to u
Just realised it says 3 days since i last bet, cant bleieve i have gone this long..... Cold turkey sat here wanting to go n sky poker and win money, SOOO HARD
Going to bed soon. This urge is harder than i thought........ Dont think i can do this at this minute, any advice appreciated
Hi Graeme, well done on 3 days! It's not easy mate but the decisions you make now will greatly affect what you do next! Keep thinking about other things (you should be very proud that you are graduating today) and it will get easier. I would also suggest that self excluding from your online accounts will put a barrier in place to help you through those "itches". Remember that if you want to stop then day 4 will always follow day 3 so take it one day, one hour, one minute at a time and remember that a few good decisions will quickly add up!
All the best for today and your journey through recovery.
Scott
Hope you're still in the race Graeme... and enjoy today!
Hi guys
Had brilliant day yesterday with family celebrating graduation
Back at work today and gambling blues kicking in. Been 4 days since i gambled and determined to keep it up.
Going to put a dvd on and do some cooking to try take mind off gambling
Thanks for your support, will message again at the weekend
Evening Graeme first of all congratulations on graduating and going 4 days without a bet. Both huge achievements. Four days might not sound a lot but considering the thoughts and struggles you had on day 2 four days is a lot. We have to take this on one day at a time. Every day you don't gamble you will feel stronger the next day. Congrats again mate and good luck.
Just saw your other thread there mate and just to add on. You should definitely give GA a try. I always said I was going and never did. Then finally did it and it's been such a huge help. Just genuine people with same problem as ourselves all helping one another out. I don't know if you've been before but would definitely give it a go.
Keep going mate. It does get easier, remember why you stopped in the first place. Don't let the b-----d bookmakers get any more of your money.
Good luck
Well..... 9 days without a bet.
Trying harder than even. few cans and indians tonight with a film
thank you all form support messages
Been paid and all (most of it on debt owed back and nothing to gamble)
