I don't know what to put in here..
I don't fancy putting my full gambling story on here as it will take forever..
But I am taking steps in the right direction. 5 days gamble free... 🙂
Hi teee
Welcome to GC!
Take it one step at a time and let your story unfold slowly. There is no meter ticking so take as long as you need. You're indeed taking the right steps forward, stick around, keep posting & reading.
GC also offers free counselling sessions, you might benefit from those. Also, blocks are essential and there are blocking software as K9 (this is free one) to help you going forward. Face to face group support as GA is also very helpful - there are many options out there, help yourself, accept support...you're not alone.
All the best and well done for facing devil in the eyes. Recovery is bespoke, embrace the change.
Sandra
My counter is abouts to hit 7 days (at 12.00am) a whole week without gambling...
ALTHOUGH I have not had any disposable cash, the £60 I received for Christmas has gone straight to my partner and our house fund.
She did today pay £200 of my bills which has taken a burden off..
Anxiety is killing me... Little sleep and random panics.
I love my little counter on Chrome (Day counter..) and enjoy seeing it go up though 🙂
DAY 7
Offically 7 days no gamble...
Well done Tee!
I'm also at 7 days no gambling!
And I also have an app which is monitoring my daily count. It also tells me how much money I've currently saved from not gambling.
Based on spending £20 a day on gambling, I've saved £142 so far!
Keep it going Tee!...
Does your partner know of your problem? If she doesn't it would be a very good idea to put her in the picture as soon as possible so she can help you with setting passwords for blockers, making sure you self exclude and handling your finances. If she doesn't know, is it really fair to her to let her inadvertently enable your gambling with bailouts?
Making sure now that you can't gamble when funds eventually become available buys you breathing space to think about what you're about to do rather than acting on impulse.
Well done tee keep it going I'm 28 days no gambling & I'm actually seeing money in my bank account for a change instead of being skint , it's a good feeling
Keep it going
All the best Paul
Thank you for all of the comments.
Yes girlfriend knew how bad my problem was a few years ago and threatened to leave me if I did it again... safe to say she has no idea.
Day 8 - Still no gamble - lets be Brutual
I made a promise with myself
Day 9
Purchased a phone today for ВЈ80 today.... feel sick and anxious..... I wouldn't think twice about gambling £80.....
Hi teee thanks for adding your downwards spiral, dayum seems like a pretty bad history with gambling to feed your addiction! Im not trying to judge you from your past an addiction can cause people to do pretty messed up stuff and try and justify it in our ownheads as to why we do it and twist it to be on a positive.
im happy your here it showing that you want to change you want to do the right thing and be gamble free for me its not what you have done but what your tryig to do to change! Keep positive and when you next get an urge the diary gives you a chance to reflect post rant and rave even just chat as a distraction.you can do this teee I wont lie it will be hard but you can stay strong you arnt alone!
thanks markieb , you are right pretty messed up stuff although my actions was not the worst someone has ever done they are the worst I have personally done.
10 days today.
11 days
Been on a 5 mile walk today. Ate healthy.. felling good apart from this horrendous anxiety.
Maybe I am only on 11 days because I have had no money.. I get money next week so maybe thats why I am anxious?
What day do the urges start to dispear ?? 🙁
I was told that Day 21 is where the urges begin to get easier to manage. You're doing really well so far Teee!
Remember, you've had 11 winning days! You're winning in life.
Keep it up mate!
I still have urges at day 30 so I don't believe they go after 3 weeks. I dare say urges will be with me for life
