A fresh new start a new era

​Ive been playing poker at my local pub for a fiver a week and it is wrong to do this whilst trying to stop gambling. With this in mind in going to stop and not go to the pub anymore.

​today is the last day I play poker and poker is my gambling vice. Tomo will be day one of my new gambling free life. I will be doing the gym and cinema az my hobby, my new hobby will be the cinema u can pay one hundred pounds for unlimeted cinema for six months

A bit of background on me, ive been on this site for eight months and ha ve been going on the chat room most nights. I have lost maybe twenty thousand on poker over ten to twelve years playing. I have had varying degrees of control over my poker but I know I can no longer control it and need to stop before I lose everything.

​I feel I need to stop going to the pub and although this means not seeing a lot of new friends and old I can meet new people who have more healthy hobbies .

I am going to spend next months wage on my cinema ticket and gym membership and begin my new life. It is going to be very hard as I am used to going to the pub drinking and gambling af least twice a week mostly drinking.​

So here's day one on the way to work feeling a bit tired.

Sounds like you are putting the right things in place Adam. I am no expert of course but the more difficult you make it to gamble the less likely you are to do it.

I do understand feeling low about your life as I am struggling with those feelings as well.....with time I'm sure it will get better though. It's got to be better than the feelings when you have lost big.

Hi all thanks for the posts, I haven't confided but I think my parents know about my problems as they wouldn't have suggested it. Today is the first day I wont go to my poker night and its fair to say I really want to go.
