A year on gamble free

Day 7,

Back at work now for the week. But this is where im vulnerable to gambling im staying strong and being positive today marks a week being gamble free and I hope to keep posting on here with many more weeks gamble free.

Day 9,

Well 9 days free now and still the urges are staying away. The weeks feel longer though maybe that's a good thing because I am making the most of my days instead of being sat in front of a FOBT. I feel like I am socialising with people more and hardly spending any money. As the months go on and I don't gamble then hopefully my funds will just keep looking better.

Yesterday was another big test as it was someone's leaving do from the army so we were drinking and in a pub again but I resisted and was very happy I am determined to quit and I hope that we all can do it together on here. I will keep posting on my diary and post on all your diaries as well.

Well done on reaching 9 days gamble free, its good to hear about the urges, ive had 2 days of them but manged to resist but im glad they have gone now its really exhausting.

Keep at it ricky the benefits are so worth it.

Day 11,

Still no urges yet to gamble I think it is because i got so much riding on this to give up and I realised how scarily addicted I became to gambling if I carried on I would have ended up on the streets or dead somewhere. So I am staying strong the barriers in place are working for me that I put there and I am pleased with my progress ok it has only been 11 days so far but I plan to make it many more days gamble free.

Hope everyone enjoys this beautiful sunny weekend we are about to have I know I will and I got lots planned with the missus so should be good.

Hi Ricky, congratulations on 11 days, I am now on day 33 myself and really starting to enjoy life and actually wake up with a smile on my face!! One of the big things that has helped me is the support from friends and family and offcourse on here! It is great you have a supportive partner to keep you strong in times of weakness.

Hey another day gamble free. Today I didn't have time to think about gambling been so busy actually enjoying the sun and not sitting in a bookies wasting the day until the shop shuts or worrying about losing money. I had a nice day with the missus and now look forward to a nice evening I am starting to feel the benefits of not gambling I hope i stay strong and kick this horrible gambling addiction for good.

I just hope when it is pay day i stick to my barriers do a budget and keep to it that way things will definitely be a lot better. I figured if you stay positive think positively things usually go your way.

My quote today is " Choosing to be positive and having a grateful attitude is going to determine how you're going to live your life"

Hope everyone stays positive and takes advantage of the beautiful weather we have at the moment.

Day 13,

Another beautiful day, I am going for a picnic today with my missus and hopefully not get too sunburnt. Back to work tomorrow though that is when I am most vulnerable because I am away for 5 days and I get lonely and bored after work so find it tough and that is when urges get strong. But I am determined to stop gambling once and for all so take each day as it comes and come on this site every evening I can work depending. I like reading diaries and trying to offer support or advice just from my experiences.

Hiya Ricky,

Cheers for the post buddy and brilliant to see you are almost at that two week mark. I know the coming week is going to be tough but you said yourself you are determined and that will stand you in good stead for the week ahead.

Just a couple of little things to bear in mind. I notice you post daily and write the day number much like me. I would use that to your advantage. Think how gutted you would be if you had to go back and write Day 1 again I sometimes use that if I get an urge. Also it's prob been mentioned before but while your away try tying up your time where possible. Gym, reading, swimming, running, knitting lol I don't know whatever really just try keep busy it's a massive help.

You have broken the cycle now by reaching two weeks so the gambling is not going to be on your mind 24/7 this is where you need to keep focussed and use that determination.
