Hi Dunc,

Massive well done to you so far on your recovery journey. Two more days and you have you half century which is a great milestone. So nice to be able to walk into your GA room on Thursday and say '7 weeks since my last bet'. You must have seen a few people come to the rooms since you began your journey and not come back so again, well done to you as you are still there!!

Looking forward to seeing you on Thursday, hopefully young friend of mine with the gambling problem will come along and share, and hopefully begin his own journey.

All the best mate

Keith

day49 seven weeks.

morning 7 weeks ago today i set out to end my life, through gambling I had become a man on a mission to self destruct and only through those words of that stranger(never got his name thanks you stopped by.) he said "suicide is a permanent answer to a temporary problem". So i returned home and set out upon this journey which has been a ride of many emotions and i can see a light in the distance, a beacon ,a target. Some days it feels a long way away, other days like i can ***** it but I know i will get there with the love of my family and the help of GA and my gamcare family. So today i say NO BET a choice which will make that reflection i see better tomorrow.

duncs compulsive gambler seven weeks no bet.( down to two halves of the manky gum a day, mind you wriggles are onto a winner!!)

day 50

I have just ridden nearly 50 miles(round trip) on my bicycle to a job i had booked in only to arrive a week early!! it was for extra cash to add to the pot, I would have used this in a negative way in my previous state of a compulsive gambler to stop off several times on my way home to punt the troubles away, now i am going to use the day gardening the in laws house and just because i can.(oh to have the 100 odd feet they have what a dream veg patch!!) Today i will not bet tomorrows outlook brighter.

Oh did any notice there is some big race meeting on?? ME NEITHER lol!!

duncs one more day stepping forward.

day51

I used to wish i could win a million pounds!

now I wish I never tried!!

GA tonight for the weekly medication.

today NO BET tommorow the reflection will look all the better for it.

duncs stepping forward one more day.

I hope that the forum settles back to normal from the end of the week it seems there is a bad atmosphere at present i am concluding it co-insides with that race meeting and tensions are running high, I would prefer to pat on the back rather than put a knife in one.TOGETHER WE STAND AND DIVIDED WE FALL.

day 52.

medication taken from the GA bottle the lid is off that bottle and I will continue to take my dose, last night the atmosphere was a bit tense, i further conclude that "THAT MEETING" is the root source of the tension.

So today a new day I have further dosed myself up by reading many more diaries(I am stood in the docs my back is playing up again no doubt more tramadol/diazipam coming my way!!)and would just like to add thanks to many many folk on this forum, your constant positivity arms me yet further in the quest to remain gamble free.

duncs compulsive gambler today no bet, stepping forward never back.

Hi Dunc

Pass my apologies onto the fellowship for my absence. I went to Ryde to catch the boat and the crossing i was due to catch does not run during March for some unknown reason and the next one would have got me there late for the meeting so i decided to take a rain check.

All good from here mate, no gambling and good to see you doing so well. Sounds like the meeting on Thursday was not as smooth as some of the others, hope you continue to attend and get that weekly medicine.

All the best

Keith
