Hello Everyone - I appreciate everyone reading this, I've been having a hard time lately. I've tried to stop gambling so many times. To shorten my story, I'm 20 Y/O, have a decent job, bright future, but every payday I go mad with wages and lose it. To dive a bit deeper, I'm in debt, and currently on a debt management plan. It's out of control.

I have ALL blocks in place, literally every. single. one. The last time I gambled was today. I pretty much have to live on the bare minimum for this month and possibly the next. Luckily I still live at home, but my DMP comes out every month which is quite a hefty sum of my pay check. But it'll be worth it in the end.

Maybe its best to get it all out. My debt management plan has around 5.5k-6k left on it. I hope to get rid of this in the next year and a half. I have paypal credit that it through the roof, this will have to just keep coming down gradually. Apart from paypal I only have 1 lender outside of my DMP, which is 50 quid a month.

My Goals

I want to write down a few goals of mine, motivational purpose... I want to have a happy amount of money saved up by Christmas. I don't want to write an exact figure, don't want to put too much pressure on it, but by happy sum I mean a figure that I am pleased with, that is spare money. I want to be gamble free. I don't want my credit to go up, but my credit score to improve. I want to post everyday.

Tomorrow will be my day 1 of being gamble free, I will post, I will get through these first few hard months. I will improve.

I've read your post mate. Well done on starting your journey. I love that you've set some goals for yourself. I do wonder what you are gonna occupy yourself with instead of gambling. Do you have any passions? What do you like doing outside of what you have been doing? Can you set some goals that include doing some fun stuff rather that just saving and working? It does help to have some other stuff to do with yourself.

I like studying and I really looking forward to a trip to Whitby next month that never would've happened when I was gambling. I'd like to hear about what you plan to do with your new found freedom from gambling hell.

Take care of you.

Day 2 - I'm a lot worse for wear than I originally thought. It's going to take me until around Christmas to get out of this slump. Just feel sad about it.. Nothing I can do now though. Try to spend as little as I can. God knows how I'm going to get on. Only good news is that I've got a new position at the company I work for, this is a positive move. I need to concentrate and focus on different things. The money can come back to me if I stay gamble free.

Day 4 - My first weekend without gambling for a very long time. I guess that's something. I'm still get stressed about my financial situation, but there's nothing more I can do about that. Day by day, it will get better.

Day 6 - Tomorrow will be 1 week gamble free. Longest I haven't had a gamble in a long time, weird.. No miraculous plan has been made to cure money problems. I won't get off the hook this time. I've reached my lowest point. I'm on the way back up. I've been tempted to bet on the football but looking at the results lately I never would of had a winner, which gave me a good feeling. Tomorrow is day 7. See you then.

Day 7 - I'm officially 1 week in, it's been difficult but I'm making progress. The only thing that makes me feel down is when I think back about money lost. I'm being a bit more positive though. Onto week number 2.

Day 9 - Still getting through the days. The weekend is here, so I'm going to avoid bookies and betting. I'll still watch the football because its literally my life. I'm happy I've made it nine days in. Double digits tomorrow, it's a small milestone but a milestone at least...

Day 1 - Haven't signed in for a while. Decided it's time to come back. This time I have more blocks in place than ever before.

I have a monzo account which blocks gambling transactions, but my other cards I cut up and ordered replacements. Which I'm then going to throw away so I don't know the numbers! Then it'll be pretty much impossible to deposit anywhere. But anyway, I didn't stick to my original post. Lasted a few weeks probably then went back to old ways. Writing this again to keep tab  on myself, I have a long-ish range plan to be out of this in the next 2 years. That's my dream. That starts today. Day 1, enough money to get through, no more wasting money gambling, savings account and repayment accounts all set up.
