Miley,

Welcome to the forum and well done for finding the courage to come here and admitting that you have a problem that you want to fix in order to live a better life. We are all here for the same reason.

Today is my 76th day without playing roulette. The game was destroying me and I was totally powerless over its addiction. I wanted to stop everyday but continued to play and chase losses but to no avail. The biggest single factor for me stopping was to finally admit defeat. It is hard to do this but once you admit defeat and accept the losses you will be on the road to recovery.

At first you will be in a rush to repay debt but with time this feeling will subside. If you take it one day at a time you will begin to enjoy life and the losses will not seem so unmanageable. This will sound hard to believe but I can ensure you this happens. One day seems like a long time but when you get one day gamble free under your belt you start to build and then the second day follows and so on until you build a long time since your last bet. During the building of these days you notice that you sleep better, worry less, feel more optimistic about your future and start to enjoy the peace and calm that you have allowed back into your life. One day at a time.

You will need blocks to prevent yourself from gambling during times when you don't expect it. My worst times were driving home from work. Without thinking about it I would pull over outside a bookies, life a few hundred quid and be sitting behind the roulette wheel. I would walk out penniless after being in credit and wonder what the hell just happened. I had to stop taking a bank card to work to prevent this opportunity. I would carry less than ten pounds of change. Others have other blocks. For me, I had to cut off the supply of cash.

One thing is certain if you don't stop your problem will get worse. You will start to bet more with higher stakes. This happened in my case until I eventually lost a few grand in about eight days. Soul destroying.

The good news is that since I stopped gambling I hardly spend any money. My overdraft continues to come down every month. My biggest outgoing every month of my spending money was gambling stake. Think of how much you wager and think how better off you would be with this money still in your account.

I used to have loads of transactions on my online banking every month now I have a fraction of those. It feels great. Life feels great. Your life can be great too but you need to want it more than you want to gamble. Admit defeat and start a new chapter. A better chapter.

I wish you well.

Tomso.

In your situation I think I would give my bank cards to someone I can trust and tell them under no circumstances to give them back to you.

If you still have money in the bank you will spend it all until you have nothing left. Even if you win back some of your losses you will probably still gamble that money in the hope of winning back more.

My personal problem was (and I hope it remains was!) online slots. I would waste hundreds of £s and even if I won I would still put it all back in hoping to win even more. On more than one occasion I got my balance to over £2000 and gambled the whole lot away instead of taking my winnings. My worst was on one site where I won £11,000 but could only withdraw a maximum of £3000 in a month. You can imagine how sitting on the rest of the money felt! It burned a hole in my 'pocket' and I gambled the whole lot away. So I'd 'won' more than some people earn in a year and I wasted all but £3000 of it.

Don't let the same thing happen to your savings. Post on here, get advice and support and please don't waste any more of YOUR money on the roulette wheel.

Good luck 🙂

Hi,

Thought I would chip in as I've had two dreams about gambling since giving up, the first one was where I had won and I was feeling elated, but the second one made me panic when I woke up thinking I had lost more money.

It took me the whole morning to get over that sick feeling.

Was yours similar?

Luckily the feelings pass.... but still not a nice experience.

just wrote a reply and then deleted it by mistake ugger lol, Pal forget about your losses move , but make this the last time you have to forget your losses as in dont gamble again you need to stop now so draw a lline in the sand and stop now , i had a dream before i was playing roulette and was enjoying it and woke up feeling happy after enjoying the dream , Roulette is a lie you can not win not unless you stop when you are up , but at what point do you stop , exactly meaning you/me we cannot win because we cannot stop , just dont play it anymore i dont intend to, 9 days ago was my last time, your on day 1 so i want to be on day 1008 when you are on day 1000 meaning for the next 1000 days and forever after thats no more gambling , roulette should be like connect 4 allowed to be played but not allowed to be played with money, dont try and win any of your losses back you know it wont happen and even if you won you know that would plant the seed for playing again in a few weeks and then loosing another few grand and being much worse off so Pal no chasing losses forget roulette , if you havnt get selfexcluding and do it now , lets put a lid on this and start racking up them days , keep strong my friend
