So today is day 1 of freedom. I have definitely thought before that I would stop, looked in a mirror at myself and said no more... Today is that day

I'm confident and stubborn so although it may get hard and I may try to bargain with myself I'm going to stick with it.

I can't believe I need to celebrate 1 day with no gambling, had it really got that bad?

This weekend was hideous, casino, bookies and online. Slots and roulette just draining me and making me feel like I was having fun. Anyone else ever seen those posters in bookies saying "gambling is about enjoyment, it should only be for fun"?

Crazy.

There are billion pound industries based on bad things, tobacco, alcohol and gambling. Consumer products which we choose to use or not and some people show restraint and others don't. The big picture is very sad but closer to home, I used to be a smoker and I stopped that , I barely drink but gambling really got a hold of me.

Today I've got they money I have left in a savings account and I'm living on a budget till next payday. I'm setting a new bank account up for a clean start and going to do a joint account so my gf can see everything in and out, pretty much removing any ability to gamble (not that I want to anymore anyway).

I know for a fact I'm going to realise how much money I have next month and what I can actually spend it on and not have to panic checking my account.

Feeling stupid, but good about the future .

Day 2 - gamble free, feeling good this morning and looking forward to the future. Had a strange moment last night where the thought of "just 20 and see what happens" popped into my head but I laughed it off.

Must say I see the benefit of this forum , seeing other people in the same boat but some posts might be counteractive. Saw a post with someone saying she had one last go and won 14k, someone else saying they had max on zero and it rolled in 4 times in a row. To me that sort of thing doesn't really help, meh.. Just venting 🙂 I think the breakthrough realisation I had was that even when I won it was just going to end up back In the machine so it really was lose/lose. Completely pointless. 🙂
