Good morning Phil ,
If i'm right it is your big 50 today. Well done, keep it up.
Sandra
Thank you early bird Sandra, you are correct the big 50 has arrived. Do i feel different? No, Am I proud? Yes!!
Thankyou Irene, Lisa for messages in the past couple of days, and thank you all for all of your support so far on my journey.
I am doing this for myself and no one else (although I want my closest family to benefit) and this time round this is helping me, is life where I want it to be? absolutely not, but one thing is for sure the life of gambling is a world far darker. If I stick to my plans I can make a success of my life.
My wife as most of you know, has been a sore point, improvement is there to be seen, but my relationship is again far from where I want it to be. What is evident even over the past couple of days, is that levels of trust are still exceptionally low, it is going to take possibly years to regain her complete trust, which I accept, but will continue my work to make that happen.
Anyway, waffling on again, hope all my friends are well and take care for the weekend.
Phil

It was good to meet you in chat tonight Phil, thanks for your kind words and support! 🙂 Veebee
Day 52, and much to be happy about over the weekend. Not completely clear of trauma, as a little argument with the wife brings up some anger of my behaviour, all to be expected I guess. Asides from that spent Saturday at a National trust park and yesterday by the sea, the kids had fun and my wife did have a better weekend. Back to work for the whole week this week, still quiet, but will post a little more on here and tick off a few things that need doing.
Debt issues still concern me, but will call Stepchange this morning to see how the TPP has been taken by my creditors. Despite the overall picture looking shocking, it is being dealt with.
Anyway, hope all my friends are well and have a great week all.
Phil
Hi Phil
A belated well done on day 50, glad you had a good weekend, i made up a pretend sea for my dogs yesterday in the garden, a sand pit and paddling pool they loved it!!!!
Try not to worry too much about the debt issues, i know thats easier said than done but they are getting sorted thats the main thing.
I am like you with the relationship thing, its so hard to get them to understand the problems but then on the other hand we have to understand how hard it is for them too. One day it might be clearer.
Hope today goes ok and you have a fun day at work, if thats ever possible!!!
Take Care Lisa 🙂
Thanks Lisa and Sandra....
So day 53, and day 52 did provide yet another stern test. Had some significant urges which I must say haven't completely gone away, my wife really went off the rails late afternoon yesterday and I could see a lot of anger towards me within her own struggles. It got me down because, I seemed to be in the eye of the storm with some pretty scary comments, but when I got home she acted as if nothing happened and was on the phone to a work colleague chatting and laughing, oh well!!
Anyway, another test beaten, at least for now, it was the golf I wanted to bet on, but this time it was an escape, I think it is just the craving for the excitement of having a bet on.
Have a great day all and stay strong
Phil
Hey Phil
Hope you are having a better day today? When you get those urges, just do what I do and tell yourself "I will only end up losing anyway at the end of the day" works for me and you will come out a "winner" every time.
Take care and remain strong and patient.
Lady Feb.
Hiya Phil
Hows it going, hope you are ok? Well done the other day beating the urge to bet, things will get better.
Take Care Lisa 🙂
Phil.
Fella well done for not feeding those urges, it takes great strength to stick two fingers up and say no.
for it be proud and a huge well done from me.
This addiction loves to feed off our emotions taking the good times and the bad and turns them into urges, they will come, I get them still often but it's how we react.
To have a punt will lead to another, then the state of emotional destruction will begin, yes we leave financial carnage but take heart fella through abstinence they better and for sure gambling would just add to the sh##it!!!
As for standing in the eye of the storm I get this completly and will say this, whilst gambling we caused a constant storm that was beyond our control, today we stand and face it, take it's blows and we still stand.
For this is the winners life.
to abstain and maintain.
duncs stepping forward never back.
Hi Phil
Well done on your progress and recovery so far. Hope things at home are a lot better today. It can be much more difficult dealing with urges when other things in your life aren't going well but you stayed strong so well done.
I can fully sympathise with the debt situation, it's a horrible burden. Just try and be strong and keep thinking positive towards it, like you say, you are making progress and chipping away at them debts.
Take care matey
Jimboo
Hey Phil,
Hope you are still keeping strong.
Glad you beat the urges the weekend and I really hope you continue to do so. It can be easy to slip, but it is doubtful it will change anything so stay firm and stay away.
Hopefully the debt situation becomes more clear and as you say, it is being worked on so you just have to stay happy and continue on
Good luck my friend
Jace
