Hi Phil
Just having a quick catch up. I'm glad to hear that things seem to be moving along nicely for you. Well done for coping well with the "big urge"- I believe that each time we do, it makes us a wee bit stronger.
I hope you have a great weekend. Hopefully we'll catch up soon.
Take care
Irene

Thanks Jimbo, Sandra, Irene and Stu....
Day 56, hasn't been to much to report, anxieties remain in the family, I know I keep saying this again and again but it is the major thing that really gets to me, but if I keep making the effort that will get easier.
It's funny really, because I have have had far more intense pressures to deal with but I can brush those off quite easily, maybe it's because I have lesser control over the latter.
Anyway, have a day off today, the garden needs work again, so that will be something to keep me busy, and will catch up on watching some golf, which I find relaxing.
Take care and have a great day
Phil
Hi Phil
Well done on day 56, make sure you relax today on your day off. Sometimes its hard to relax when you have so many things going around in your head.
I didnt get chance to watch any of the golf yesterday, watched the cricket highlights. I would love to learn to play golf but so expensive, i will have to stick to my tiger woods game on the wii instead, its a ritual on friday nights in my house, 18 holes with tiger!!!!!!
Take Care
Lisa 🙂
Thanks Lisa....
another day, and I think I am feeling a little low, have a feeling it is a mini "mid life crisis", 40 in 5 days. I read the papers watch tv and see so many people getting grey hairs and looking older, I then think of myself, of my grey hairs, and then feel quite sad about how I have wasted a life, an opportunity. I know you shouldn't look to the past, but a little difficult when you are nearing one of life's landmarks. My advice to any forum friends who are in their 20s and think that they have wasted their lives, you still have plenty of life to look forward to, the reality is that I still have plenty of life to look forward, as they say life begins at 40!!!
Enough of the self pity, another day and all of the above should provide motivation to keep gamble free. Family life has been up and down as usual in the past couple of days, but the trend with my wife I feel is improving all the time, that is a good thing.
Enough rambling, have a great weekend all and stay strong.
Phil
Hey Phil
You make sure you celebrate your 40th. Like you said, it is a special milestone! I have ten years on you and I say you too can still make huge changes for the better, like you are doing now.
Take care. Got the virtual candles at the ready!!

hey Phil
sorry to hear you are feeling a bit low mate. You have done so well- keep strong.
A friend used to say to me that 'nothing is wasted' however bad we think the experience was. You've got a whole load of wonderful tomorrows ahead of you.... and a free bus pass to look forward to in a few years!!!! lol, I'll get mine before you!
Stu
Hiya Phil
Gettin older was one of my biggest motivations in life like u I felt I had many wasted years with gambling and wanted to do something better and live a better standard of life I looked at like a game of football 1st half played badly and couldn't av played any worse but now the whistle has blown for the 2nd half and its time to turn it all around
Castle2
Hi Phil,
Well done on your progress so far and for keeping strong despite feeling down.
I just want to say that you are no way too old to do anything that you aspire. My Dad cycled the length of Great Britain last year when he was 67 years old! Over 1000 miles in less than 3 weeks. If you put your mind to something, you will achieve it.
Hope your feeling a bit better anyway mate, and keep strong,
Jimboo
Hi Phil
Well done on the progress to date!
Please don't dwell on the age angst- celebrate each of those grey hairs 🙂 We've all made mistakes done/not done things we wish we had/hadn't and will continue to do so. It's how we handle the mistakes that's important and how we learn so they're not repeated- you've got the rest of your life to enjoy and I'm sure you will 🙂
Anyhow, I hope you're having a good Monday, keep up the great effort.
Hopefully we'll catch up on chat soon.
Take care
Irene

Irene, Sandra, Stu, Castle, LF and Jimbo....thanks for all your posts!!
well day 60 I think, another mini hurdle, really do appreciate the comments regarding my fast approaching birthday, I know it doesn't make a great deal of difference but just a little thought provoking. If anything, being gamble free I have so much to look forward to.
I really do want to start my exercise plan again, badly bruised my toe (thought it might be broken), whilst racing my daughter barefooted a couple of weeks ago and this weather has put me off a little, I will start again soon though as I do want to make losing weight a mini target for myself.
I have a good feeling about the relationship with my wife, still far from ideal but think we are making slow progress, a couple of incidents, mainly associated with the golf last weekend prompted some anxieties for her, and of course that is still understandable.
anyway, all my lovely friends have a great week and stay super strong
Phil
Well done phil on day 60
I would make sure you get your toe checked out it could be broken without you even realizing it. Glad things are picking up with your wife, i wish i could say mine was but it isnt at the moment but we have 5 days in a caravan together so i am sure it will (no getting away!!!).
You need to find an exercise that you really enjoy as it becomes a chore thats why i do my dog agility. I lost nearly two stone when i was training number 1 three days a week, could be an idea with your dog.
Anyway not sure if i will get on computer until next week so if not have a great weekend and stay strong
Lisa 🙂
Affected by gambling?
