Hi Magic

Well done for staying strong but I struggle to subscribe to this one day at a time thing. My own experience of trying that is that there is too much self-pressure each day to say 'I'm not doing this today' and then relief at the end of the day when you succeed. The inevitable conclusion is you give in to the demons one day. I've found it easier in periods of abstinence to train the brain not to think about gambling at all and just put it out of the equation. Not suggesting there's only one way of beating this, just my thoughts.....doing say 20 days followed by one slip then another 20 followed by 1 slip etc versus going clean for ages followed by a few days back in action, all viscious circles!

Thanks for the post Captain.

Another gamble-free day passes. Have a nice contented feel at the moment. Hope it continues tomorrow too.

Boring middle lane for me, much better than the perverse high highs and very low lows that you go through when out of control gambling binges consume oneself.

Positivity each and every day is the key for me from now on.....

Keep strong all

Mw

fella, nothing brings more pleasure than to see another valued member is sustaining abstinence.

That middle lane sounds far from boring my friend.

Enjoy the ride and the resolve to abstain and maintain will grow.

Just for today you most certainly made the best choice.

Duncs stepping forward never back.

Thanks very much for the support Duncs.

Day 11 without gambling for me today.

Looking forward to the nice long Easter break. Must keep a grip on my compulsive habits. Not gambling, but just being compulsive in general.

I tend to find that I can divert my compulsive behaviour to other habits quite easily without even realising it at times. Some of these habits can be positive ones, which is good. But some can be bad habits too, so just have to have a quiet word with myself!!

Positive, positive, positive, is how I am approaching this weekend. Hoping the weather will pick up and going to enjoy life in general.

Keep strong all

Ade

Hi Mw and thanks for your support.

I find that the boring middle lane becomes not boring after a while. The middle lane is the place to be in my opinion. My body and soul cannot cope with the highs and lows of compulsive gambling... almost all lows in my case.

I also find it hard not to divert my compulsive nature into other unhealthy compulsive behaviours but over time i am doing more of the healthy and less of the unhealthy. But like you say, filling the gambling shaped void with other healthy pursuits is very much the way forward. For me I work, I run, I write and am even gonna engaged in this wierd and outlandish thing called "socialising" this weekend... (just a bit mind) but progress for me for sure.

Keep up with the positive outlook a day at a time only. Warm regards... S.A 🙂

Thank you Gazza and Shiny for your support.

Unfortunately for me yesterday was a bad day, as I relapsed when I was low. Same old urge got me and I was suckered back into old habits.

Won't bore you with all the details, as I have spent the last 24 hrs kicking myself for my error.

13 days without a bet, then 1 day with half a dozen pointless punts. Idiotic and stupid. My mind is a mess.

Did not gamble today.

Back to fight once more.
