Thanks for the supportive posts.

Haven't posted for many months myself. Had a bit of a relapse, after my year of abstinence. When I slowly but surely returned to the sad repetative behavioural patterns that dictated my previous gambling issues.

I let gambling back into my life. Or rather, gambling started to control me again. I had a new found optimism when I managed to convince myself that 'Recovery was possible', after grinding out that whole year without gambling. I acheived a hell of a lot being 'gamble-free', and yet I drifted back to old habits far too easily.

It's been a few months of despair that has led me back to recovery. The losses, far outweighing the wins. I am now a weeks since my last bet and back to takin..... one day at a time.

Keep strong all

Recovery IS possible.

Thank you both so much for your kind posts. I will catch up with both your recovery journeys as soon as I can. Really appreciate you taking the time to post on my diary.

Nothing much to report at present. Another gamble-free day under my belt. Taking One day at a time is enough for me right now, as I am feeling extremely calm at the moment.

I will most probably post more about my relapse when I get the chance. I am still analysing it all in my head, but sometimes I know I can be over analytical about past events in my life. So for now, I will just focus on the present and the immediate future.

The good thing is, I know I do have it in me to do recovery. I can gain the strength and resolve to abstain. A year was an acheivement of sorts. But I should have kicked on, and in doing so I would have learnt more about my recovery. Unfortunately I became complacent and let my guard down far too easily.

Keep strong all

Recovery IS possible

Ade

I’ve made a petition – will you sign it?

My petition:

Stop filling our towns and city's with gambling premises.

our towns and city's are being dominated by betting shops. the gambling act 2005 is failing to protect vulnerable people due to the sheer number of gambling premises available . Community's are being destroyed and lives ruined due to gambling.

please please sign. Small steps to remove some of the source will only do good.

Hi Ade Gregg here how you doing. I feel your pain mate. Im fighting everyday the now to stay afloat and stay off it. Even after 500 days the urges do not go away. Ok you may have been back on it but have now seen ghe error of your ways and know what is required to go on a long unbeaten run. Just a pity your team could not do it this year mate. Dont think you will ever have a better chance of winning the premier league. Things up here in Scotland are looking up on the football front. The gers are back and we have even managed to persuade Joey Barton to leave the Premiership. God know how that signing will pan out but hopefully he is a bit more mature now. All the best mate and hope you find what you are looking for in recovery.

Hi Ade,

It's Rach! Sorry, I still owe you a reply email don't I - I'll get round to it one day lol! Hope you're ok Ade, glad you're back. GC worked for you before, and it can again - like you said you have it in you and I have no doubt that you will do it again. I'm not on here much myself now, just wanted to drop by and let you know that I'm rooting for you.

xx

Thanks for all the supportive posts. Nice to see some familiar names, I will post back to you all, just been so busy this week. Which is a blessing as I have built up some strength, and now I am not thinking of gambling every morning when I wake.

Back to doing some constructive stuff, and paying more attention to my golf balls. Gambling always makes me lose that focus on life. Its like day and night, the difference between me gambling and not gambling.

Over 2 weeks now, and i am taking those small steps towards recovery.

Keep strong all

Recovery IS possible
