Hi,

I do not know how to use this site yet, so if anyone can help me it would be great. I am an old school poster and am sure I have a lengthy diary on here, so I am no stranger to gambling. I have lost £6k recently and it was all of my savings all pumped into a bookies that im self excluded from. It isn't just the fact I have been stupid, it is tactics exploited by the bookies; using the £50 max stake and then letting you use the £100 stake when you have lost half of your money drawing into the machine even closer. I felt that I could not leave the shop for fear of not being able to do £100 (on any other machine) a spin because I do not sign up to anything. Wasn't this law introduced to help problem gamblers? It surely is illegal? well that is a joke because the machines are illegal and been allowed to operate for years.

It has been six days now and that amounts to 1k per day loss if I add it up....

All I need to do is step away from gambling and slowly rebuild my life...

I stopped at Christmas for around six months, slowly and slowly I slipped back into gambling with scratchcards, lottery, fruitmachines and then Roulette.....This time I will totally have zero tolerance on gambling...

I am sorry to say that self exclusion doesnt work fully...The bookies need people like us, the sad pat is they are saying that they wouldnt be around today if it wasnt for the digital age of fobt's....My opinion is GOOD! they shouldnt be on the high st anyway...

Day seven,

I have decided to follow religion, I think it can help if you decide to let god deal with your problems and then it feels like a weight is lifted from your shoulders....It is worth a try...You just have to believe...

Believe what you want to believe but make sure you believ e in yourself, I have struggled with this for a long time now and at the end of the road, it cannot go on anymore.....Just when you think you are home and dry your gaurd lowers and you're back to sqaure one.....

Good luck on your journey, you do what works for you. Posting on here everyday has helped me stop (I stopped before for over two years then fell back into the FOBT trap) this can't and won't happen again.

Keep strong, keep posting and stay out of the bookies

Day 8.

Still not entirely sure how to navigate, I do apologise if I have accidently posted on someone else's wall.

Just feeling guilty and stupid at the moment.

I slowly keep slipping back into the bookies. It starts from small bets, i.e Lottery and scratchcards....Not much happens and then I end up in a bookies for quicker money and that real adrenline rush that almost has you in heart attack mode. Anyway, believe me on this one....The machines are 100% unhealthy and illegal....The government knows....We may as well be America the way things are going.... I don't see anyone happy in this country anymore, do you? If you are happy then people will make it a priority to upset you some way or other....My words are....BE STRONG!

Hey derv, thanks for your message, please don't worry or feel stupid about putting it on wrong thread, we have all done it, the times I have posted to someone on my own thread is still ongoing lol,

Just take one day at a time, 2 things to remember in the first couple of weeks,

1... I cannot just play a minimum, because I cannot win because I cannot stop,

2... I will never win back what I have lost, the stakes got too high.

8 days is good going, keep focused on one day at a time, to abstain and maintain, and WIN,

Keep strong.

Day 9.

I dont have much to say except...The road is really long, and not straightforward....We need the courage to not stray, the only way is TOTAL ABSTINENCE! If I, or anyone else, decides to even make the smallest of bets then slowly it will creep back into our lives...

day 10

I am going to stay completely away from gambling. I know I have said this a million times but this time I really believe in myself, no more...Twice I have lost huge sums, and that about sums it up for me!

Day 11.

I consider the future quite a bit these days...It leaves me in an 'overthinking' situation.. I used gambling as a means to an end...Another words, to forget about the future, I would make today important...The thing is today is very important, too important! Long at times and boring...Vicious circles eh? I have been chasing my tail for too long...Grrr!!

Positively reflect on your errors!

No more....Gambling the word just makes me cringe...

It isnt easy, is it? Life was not supposed to be a game of win, win, was it?

Hi diary, The devil comes to steal, destroy and kill... Interesting that this sums up evilness! Yet still, the government's greed actually gets them nowhere....

After all, people hate losing a lot more than actually winning. The jokes on the gambling authority.
