Day 138, next target, half a year or say 183 days, so only another 45 days to go. Only! used to be a time when I could not dream about going a day without gambling. But now, with time and by putting distance between you and the addiction, things change, for the better.

Sleeping a lot better now, three nytol a night, never worked at first but doing the business now. Can't beat a good nights sleep.

take care all, Steve.

Day 140, 20 weeks. Still feeling very positive. Grateful for so many things, truly grateful. Bought two slazenger hockey sticks for me and Maisie yesterday. Worst mistake of my life. Been playing basketball with her for the last two weeks and I should have stuck to that none contact sport. She's a big nine year old in height and stature, East Germany would've been proud. With a stick (lethal weapon) in her hand she transformed into a monster. No self control or consideration for me whatsoever. My poor legs are covered in painful bumps and bruises, and when I show her the consequences of her handywork she just stares admiringly like an artist at an easel and says 'sorry' with a smile on her face. We're going to the gym now and then a swim, before that I need to buy her a new bathing cap for her and some shin pads for me.

Now I know why I love the peace and tranquility of fishing.

Take care all

Steve Curly

Hi Steve,

Great to read that you and your little one are enjoying the great outdoors, Im currently trying to help the pocket rocket to ride his bike minus the stabilizers, he's getting there slowly.

Hes a "gadget" boy, rather than the sporty type, although we do try to encourage him to play outside as much as possible.

Your journey is nothing short of miraculous my friend, you hardly mention the "gamble" word now, and more power to you for being where you have got yourself to today.

You took this disease by the short and curlies and showed it who's boss, and if ever there was a man who deserved a pedestal for what he has managed to achieve, then I reckon its you.

Much respect for you Steve,

All the best

Cameron

Yo

A drunk decides to go ice fishing, so he gathers his gear and goes walking around until he finds a big patch of ice. He heads into the center of the ice and begins to saw a hole. All of sudden, a loud booming voice comes out of the sky. "You will find no fish under that ice."

The drunk looks around, but sees no one. He starts sawing again. Once more, the voice speaks, "As I said before, there are no fish under the ice."

The drunk looks all around, high and low, but can't see a single soul. He picks up the saw and tries one more time to finish.

Before he can even start cutting, the huge voice interrupts. "I have warned you three times now. There are no fish!"

The drunk is now flustered and somewhat scared, so he asks the voice, "How do you know there are no fish? Are you God trying to warn me?"

"No", the voice replied. "I am the manager of this hockey rink."

It takes a lot of determination to find a joke relating to fishing and hockey .......

Bit like the determination needed to knock this gambling addiction out the ball park . ( wrong game but I think I got away with it lol)

Have a super duper weekend ...

Thanks for your post Steve, and yes I am slowly starting to get my strength back.

Its all too easy to forget how good we feel when not gambling, and all too easy to get deeper and deeper once we make that initial step back into the world of gambling, Ive just gotta not give in to it ever again, I cant keep doing this to myself and my family.

Life sounds amazing for you my friend, I wish you and yours nothing but the best in life, you earned it big time 🙂

Have a great Sunday

Morning,

I liked that little joke Shiny posted. Although right at the end she mentioned something about being out of the ball park. Now that terminology is associated with baseball. I have long maintained that Baseball is the worst sport in the world. In terms of quality anyway. I mean both teams get about 3000 attempts to hit the ball and then you see scores like 2.0 or 1.1 sometimes you get a 9.7 but surely every game should be like that. Ridiculous sport. Then there's cricket but that doesn't get mentioned as it's not even a sport anyway.

Anyway, I am back on your thread after my little sulk I had been eyeing up post 600 for a few days and some bloke who has gone 142 days without a bet beat me too it. I guess my consolation was if anyone was going to beat me it should be him. Keep going buddy you are in a great place right now!

147 bet free, a snooker analogy springs to mind but I haven't the energy to conjuror one up. Maisie had a nightmare and came into my bed about midnight. She slept right through, in the shape of a swastika whilst I clung on to the side of the bed, full of dead, cramped limbs and pins and needles, unable to turn over for fear of squashing/waking the little bugg*r.

Going out soon, school holidays nearly over, been great, cost a fortune, never gambled. Going on a mini beast hunt with the Rangers tomorrow, can't wait, love insects/arachnids/creepy crawlies etc, Maisie not too keen, maybe why she's having nightmares. She'll thank me one day, maybe. Hope it doesn't rain.

Take care everyone, whatever life throws at you, boredom, adversity, don't make it worse, stay clean and soldier on. Choose life.
