I’ve been a gambling addict for 8 years. I’ve lost over £50,000 and I’m only 25 years of age. I’ve relapsed more times than you can imagine. But I’ve now found a winning formula that id like to share with you all..
1. Tell a loved one and hand all your cards and money access over including online banking. Ask them to give you spending money if you really need it. I found this very hard at first but it really is the only option for me.
2. SIGN UP TO GAMSTOP!!!! I’ve been waiting for this to be launched for years and now it’s here. Please please sign up to it.
I am now a week gamble free for the first time in 8 years. I’m not going to lie and say I’m suddenly cured - I have urges every day still but I’m hoping these will slowly fade - my will to stop is strong and I know I have no access to gambling money and no access to gambling websites. Stay strong and if this helps even just one of you I’ll be delighted.

Hi TB1010...Congrats on being a week from gambling. I think gamstop is fantastic...long overdue service. It will help people enormously. However I suppose Im pointing out the obvious...but it will only block sites that have signed up to the program. So there are still 100's of online ways to lose your money. So other blocks are still definately needed to completely block acees to your pc/phone etc. I put the gamban on my PC 6 weeks ago and was doing great...but it didnt work on my phone...and so I found the loophole and went on a gambling frenzy on that! I have now got netnanny on the phone so all acees is blocked to anything gambling related. I must be cycnical...but I have a sneeking suspicion that we will see more and more online casinos popping up now...Im certain some of the ones that have signed up will open up sister sites so that they will not lose too much profit. On paper the big companies will look like they are great...but with a sister company of a different name they can continue to generate profits. I hope not...but this is only my opinion. So as much as gamstop is fantastic...you need other blocks in place too for complete denied access. Good luck and well done!
I’m a sports betting addict. Every site I’ve ever used is covered on gamstop and if it’s not now it will be by the end of the year.
A big point of my original post was to help people psychologically .. I have gamstop in place so I can’t bet anyway etc.. but nice job ruining that!
Im sorry Tb1010...I didnt mean it to come across as negative. What I meant was that it only covers certain sites so unless you have blocked access to all sites then you are still at risk. Im sorry if my post came across in another way...I have no intention to ruin anyones progress.I just read also that all online gambling sites will have to sign up by the end of the year. So that is fantastic news.
Maybe thank Valdab door trying to help TB? You've done a week and you come on here giving it the big I am. Not going to get you very far. You need to read what people are telling you and take it on board if you want to be more successful. One week in 8 years doesn't mean you have cracked it and there is a lot of advice that will help you. You have two ears and one mouth, use them in that ratio. I wish you luck.
I don’t think you can read properly Jam I said in my original post I’m not cured nor have I claimed to be so take your negativity elsewhere.
Thanks val I may have taken your comment the wrong way but I hope Gamstop can help you too! How’s your progress?
Unfortnately I cant use gamstop...you can only use it at the moment if you are a UK resident and I am not. Its a real shame because many of the sites I used are on there....eventhough I think Ive self excluded from them all individually anyway. Day 3 today...all good in the hood! I was doing well for 6 weeks but had a major lapse...huge chasing loss...absoutely absurd behaviour. But today I am starting to make peace with myself...feel so much more at ease knowing that I am blocked from everything online. The netnanny blocked the facebook access on my phone as well and I dont have the password...I burned it!!!But you know what...not having facebook on my phone might turn out to be a good thing too.I can access it from home pc so thats plenty! Keep going TB1010...you are already ahead of me in GF days. I never want to come on here again to say I relapsed and I hope the same for you.Good luck!
I agree Val social media can be a huge waste of time and I find it doesn’t help with urges when you see people living these luxurious lifestyles without a care in the world! Well done on 3 days.. you’ll soon be at 3 weeks then months then years!
