You are right. I do not have 'urgent' debts to pay. I just having 'pressing' debts, which are always on my mind. I was keen to clear my overdraft, which charges about 20% interest and thought I could do this via a super balance transfer, hence the cards for which I applied. Anyway, it wasn't possible so I am going to leave it for now. One should pay off the debts with the highest interest rate first - I am going to pay off my overdraft, then my credit card and then my personal loan.
Day 4: no gambling today.
Theres still no 'like' button so ill just write it

Today is the start of my Day 5 and my only urge at the moment is to get up to one week gamble free. Today will be a long day as I have a language class after work. It's grey, wet and miserable outside so I am going to take the tube to work instead of cycling. Here's to a gamble-free day!
I received a rejection letter from the Post Office today in relation to last week's unsuccessful credit card application. On another note, I'm still waiting for my pin code from Credit Expert in order to activate access to my credit report. I really need to make sure everything is in order; any mistakes must be corrected. For now, I'm just going to sit tight on my current debts and perhaps review the situation in January. I definitely don't want my debts to increase any further - a return to gambling would certainly cause that.
Day 5: no gambling today.

Be great to be able to tick them off one by one!
I reckon you should mark them on the calender and tick them off as they come and go!

Credit card rejection letter received from Marks and Spencers today. Fortunately, I've been able to intercept yesterday's and today's post before my wife potentially opened it herself. The shredder I bought earlier this year has proved to be a wise investment. I basically shred every letter I receive. All of my bills, bank accounts and credit cards are online with paperless billing so no dangers there with post getting into the wrong hands and massive debts being discovered. Still waiting for my Credit Expert activation code.
Day 6: no gambling today.
Day 7: no gambling today.
My credit rating is not good enough. Just checked it. Too many applications for credit recently, too many open credit files and not enough stability. Still, at least there are no missed payments at the moment. I have just set up a direct debit for one of my credit cards to save me having to do it manually each month. I have set it up for 250 GBP per month starting from this month. The balance is currently 3,500 GBP and it will finally be paid off by Christmas 2012. My loan will probably be paid off by Easter 2013 but I will try to bring this forward to the end of next year if I can.
i urge you not to go down thew payday loan route as i did. i was £16000 in debt and paid it off in 5 years, obviously noone would give me a loan after that (thank god). then these payday loan sites kept popping up everywhere, and they never say no. so i ended up falling in deep again. just this month i have woke up and stayed strong. i was sick of working all month then giving my money away, instead of buying shopping or taking my girlfriend out. i have managed both this month and i got a bigger buzz doing that.
i have just joined this website, and your story was the first i read. we really are alike gamblers, which i never knew.
good luck mate
Hey Pelle
Good work setting up those payment plans!
However don;t overstretch yourself on paying off more than you will eventually be comfortable with.
In the past i have tried to pay lots off a month in order to try and get rid of it quicker....but then when i have a bad month and i think about what ive lost payday becomes the hardest day of the month
I look at my outgoings and go 'im just giving away 500=700 of my wage that ive worked for!
I need to win some money to make up for what im giving away....and it all falls to pieces!
We are always in a rush to make up for our mistakes but maybe smaller payments and an easier state of mind of the amount that is going out might help in the long run?
This might not be right for you but just sharing what happened to me when i tried to pay big amounts off to rush debt repayment
Lets just say it didnt go well! lol
Anyways keep it going 🙂
Day 8: no gambling today.
