Now im going to bed to think about it, and think about me and how my lifes been

I feel sick to my stomach after watching that

Found out today that December's payday has been brought forward to Friday, 16th December. It's good because I get paid sooner than usual and can spend less time overdrawn next month, but bad because they'll be a long wait until payday on 22nd January!

This shows that you are thinking long term.

Which can only be a very good thing!

Today is an important day as it marks three weeks (21 days) since I last gambled. This is supposed to be the amount of time necessary to clinically beat an addiction. I'm not sure if I believe that but it is certainly comforting to think that, based on research, it might be true. I am certainly thinking much less about gambling at the moment. It used to be the first thing I thought about when I woke up in the morning and the last thing I thought about when I went to bed at night. I'm now starting to relax more as a person and to concentrate on other things in life - this includes my work, which had been badly affected by my gambling habits. Here's to a gamble-free day!

I am still taking one day at a time, which is why I am recording my gamble-free days each day even if I have nothing else to say. It feels better to post something each day rather than nothing at all. I check other people's diaries each day and believe this is a useful part of the recovery process. It is important one does not feel alone in this struggle against gambling - we are all in this together and together we will beat our gambling addictions.

I accidentally left my wallet at home today. I realised whilst I was cycling to work but was already late so couldn't turn back. It means they'll be no lunch for me today! Still, it forces me not to spend any money which is probably a good thing because I am trying to cut back left, right and centre. I'm going to have to go and forage through the fridges at work to see if there is any neglected food that I can eat. Anyway, it means that Day 22 without gambling is a certainty as I won't be home until after 6pm and racing finishes at 4pm at this time of year.

I am now back home and cooking some breaded cod fillets in the oven while boiling some potatoes on the hob. My wife is in bed with a heavy cold. I am starving as all I've eaten today since breakfast has been a piece of cheese, which I found in the fridge at work, and a few sweets from a work colleague. Still, I cycled to and from work and have not spent any money today. Looking forward to eating shortly and then I'll catch up with some programmes on iPlayer. Who needs gambling when there are so many free pastimes in life?

What's wrong with making your own lunch for work instead of paying inflated prices? I haven't bought lunch for a few months now and am currently enjoying pasta a toms which I make lots of during the weekend.

You're right there are plenty of free things to do which is why I would list jogging as my main pastime!

Enjoy iPlayer!

I dont bother with lunch

My stomach is used to not eating lunch anymore so its just breakfast and dinner for me 7 days a week 🙂

Give it a go.....don't listen to doctors and their nutrition speech! lol

I have been trying to take a homemade lunch to work everyday but it's not always possible and this morning I overslept and the fridge was empty. I cycled to work in a rush and forgot my wallet so spent the day starving. I have just eaten supper so am feeling a bit better. I will try to eat bigger breakfasts and maybe just eat a banana for lunch in future. However, the trouble with cycling to work is that I'm hungry by mid-morning so lunch is normally essential for me.
