Yo,

Once again thank you peaps

Sadly dad passed away yesterday , proud of the fact that I kept my promise and managed his care from here.

Urges coming thick and fast one to fill the void in life and two to make me forget how terribly sad I feel.

I will miss him so much .

I know that having a punt to escape would only increase my sadness , but you know that the addiction will do everything and more to hit you when you are at your most vulnerable .

Today I needed to go into town, left my cards at home and only took very little money . So today my recovery is in tact .

I know you all send me your heart felt condolences , and how hard it can be to reply to this post , so it's ok there really is no need . I just wanted to write down what was happening with me .

Back to a day at time but that's not such a bad thing .

Laters

Shiny xxxxxx

Just want to say I'm really sorry for you Shiny and your family. I know it must've been awful but you can hold your head up high because you was there for him in his hour of need. He would have been so proud of you. Give yourself time to grieve properly. You probably feel drained and flat. What you undertook must have been exhausting but you did it. Whatever you decide from now on, whatever actions you take, just look after yourself.

Steve

Yo,

Just popping in to update my diary, I will reply to all your posts in the passage of time , but please believe when I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kind messages .

A bit of a rant coming on, my compassionate leave ends Monday , the funeral is Wednesday . Work have not contacted me to see how I was , or when the funeral was . So I am below par , and thought no I am going to put myself first , so I went to the doctors and got signed off for 2 weeks .

How can 5 days companionate leave be enough ??? I have used all my holiday up caring for dad , so what does a girl do?

With so very much to sort out , on top of dealing with your sadness and those nearest and dearest who are also deverstated by loosing someone they adored.

Gambling well temped the last day I posted, but no urges since .

Will they come thick and fast once life stops being so hectic ? Probably , as I will also have a lot more free time. But lets cross that bridge when I come to it .

Today I did not gamble , tomorrow I do my upmost to ensure it goes the same way .

Like I said get next week over , then I will take the time to catch up properly on all your diaries although did notice a heated debate going on.

I can not gamble responsibly , my last relapse start with a small stake slot play , well it wasn't a roulette machine betting 100 a time . ( So thats ok then .....WRONG ! ) With in hours I was playing 2 machines at once , stuffing £20s in like they were going out of fashion .

Reading bout controlled gambling does not make me want to bet , so I suppose my view is not for me thank you very much , but each to their own. Your recovery , your rules .

Laters my dear friends

Shiny xxxxx

On the grand scheme of things Shiny this debate is trivial so don't give it another thought unless you want to of course...

I don't blame you for getting signed off ..it's a lot of work organising funerals and contacting everyone and sorting out food etc..you will probably feel like you need a holiday after Wednesday.

Plus there's your kids who no doubt are looking to you for comfort .

Keep posting when you can

R and D xx

Hi Shiny,

I think sometimes people belittle low stakes slot machines as being inconsequential, but like you say they can and do have profound consequences for many of us. Many of my relapses have started with 30p in a machine but then within the hour I am playing 2 or 3 machines at the same time feeding notes into all of them and losing a lot of money... despite the noises that the machine makes when it spits out a few pound coins.

Am sorry to hear of your loss and on the face of it what seems like a rather uncaring employer. I work for an employer whose focus is "care" but what you soon realise is that "money" is what they really care about.

Anyway thoughts are with you. Take care and keep safe... S.A 🙂
