Hi Abstainer
Yes, I have been struggling a but recently but maybe that's the wrong word, as I am the one that made a mistake, through my own decisions I guess. The giftcard approach to spending is working, and I will only carry my card if I am with someone, otherwise i hide it in a safe place.
I am using an app now, one that tracks my gamble free days, along with my gift card balances. For some reason, I think this strategy us helping me because I am very result driven, if I can see progress then it spurs me on,
I urge anyone that is addicted to gambling to try buying a gift card, then only carry that around with you. You will obviously need cash for parking, and that is all I have small amount of cash for. I feel like I can do well with daily posts, tallying days nit gambled and seeing how far I can stretch my gift card balance.
Today, is a good day.
I have not gambled for over a year now, and today I just thought more about why I made the choices I made. I never felt like I achieved anything, waiting for something special to happen but it never did. Gambling gave me the chance to feel like I could achieve something in an instant, the good and the bad - it was all down to me, but with the element of chance just as in real life.
Not gambling is good, not going out and doing the things that can make a difference to your life is not.
