Ultimately it's down to individual but these machines need to be regulated. Each fobt makes £47,000 a year profit, bookies are now open till 9:30 on a Sunday night so people can play these machines. Seriously doubt anything will be done thou, bookies have made a pathetic attempt at trying to warn players when they are losing there money as if they didn't no. U can smash a machine up and they won't call the police, they don't want the bad publicity. Says it all

Seriously tempted to to punt a few minutes ago but told myself to think about all the losses I've had and what I've got to pay back. Had a hard day at work but some how I see losing a load of money in a machine as relaxing!!!! Glad I've resisted I will not gamble!!

Day 13 over with so glad I resisted yesterday. Felt great about it today. Haven't even thought about football betting the last 2 weeks. Paid off around £1300 of debt in the last 2 weeks, loads of well paid work on so in 3 months could be debt free

Well done for keeping up the no gambling.....

It's a lovely feeling having it in savings/paying debts off.

Just got to find something worthwhile to spend a bit of it on, and something where you have some pleasure from it.....

Hope you keep it up! We started our recovery journeys about a week apart....

agree to be or not to be , before gambling i always saved and i think this is part of the problem we need to spend some money on ourslves otherwise we end up doing stupid things like gambling , because otherwise we dont feel we are getting anything back for our hard work

Apart from my urge the other day I'm barely thinking about gambling but I'm only to aware how it can creep it's ugly head back into my life. I have 3 breaks/holidays in June/July and it would be nice to have money in the bank rather than trying to get hold of or win money to go away with. I've actually gambled my holiday money the day before I go away on a couple of occasions. The lies of told are unreal , if only people knew!!

The enormity of how much I was/have gambled has dawned on me the last couple of days.going to use this to spur me on not to gamble anymore. When I gamble I completely switch off from reality and go into some kind of trance, only happy when I have no money left to gamble. Been over 2 weeks now got another month of solid work and paying off urgent debts then I can start on the credit card debt.

well done for not gambling its still hitting me a bit how much i lost aswell i called myself an idiot outloud this morning 3 times

when thinking about that amount of money i could of had sitting in my bank account , and having no debt . But the good thing is when we clear our debt , we will have money again and win money by not gambling anymore by not gambling and then keeping what would of been our losses . Keep going you aint on your own . I will not be a victim to this addiction

Abused myself for over 20 years due to gambling but I'm determined not to let it abuse me for a day more. The money is gone we just have to make sure we never give them a penny again. Have u seen the 'set your limit' displays in the bookies now? As if a problem gambler is going to go in there and set himself a limit over the counter. If u have to do that surely they should realise u have a problem and ban u? But they won't cause they want problem gamblers that's why they have these machines for suckers like us
