Well I haven't gambled but very low. Need to find a lot of money to pay off debts. Had a real, great opportunity to start my life again and totally blew it. Now I have to live with lies and deception. No-one know if my debt. Any ideas on how to make money legitimately will be gratefully received 🙂

Why have I mucked everything up? Feel so desperate and pessimistic. Wish there was a quick fix and I could lead a normal, happy life without worrying all the time.

Hi Dogears.

There is no quick fix my friend. Previous attempts at abstinence I began to think much the same way you are now re debt. It only led me back to gambling and even further into debt.

As silly as it may sound you need to let the money go. Do you have a DMP (Debt management plan) in place yet? It may take a few years to clear the outstanding balance (I'm in the same boat) but the sooner you come to terms with that the better.

Being in recovery is so much better than being stuck in the gambling haze with all the turmoil it brings. Gambling will take everything and more from you, recovery will give you your life back.

All the best

Thanks for the support Sam. I can service the debts. I need to go back to basics - break the triange. I have self-excluded from more sites and bookmakers. Limit card allowance. Got to do this -it's getting out of control again. I will not give up. “Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise.”

Really f****g this up. Keep going back to gambling. Which path do I choose happiness or self destruction? So far lost marriage and house and now racking up more debts. Got to get a grip!!!!

I'm going to set a short term target as that worked well before. I'm aiming for the end of the month.

Got to a week gamble free then blew 5k. Day 1 tomorrow. Really struggling with this. It's just not working. I keep finding online casinos that i haven't used before. I'm going to sign up to as many as I can tonight and self exclude from them all. Not sure what else to do. I just can't seem to stop even though I know it is wrong.

Report your bank card lost get someone, even if it's a stranger to scratch off the last Three numbers on the back then you can find all the online sites you want but they won't take any money of you without them last 3 numbers.

Thanks KTF. I keep saying to myself I can't go on like this but then I f**k it up again. I'm beginnning to lose hope. It's been going on for 20 years and I'm resigning myself to the fact that I can never beat it. It's always there. I wish casino gambling was something that I didn't understand, you know like complicated bets in the bookies. I'm sure that would have barrier to starting. I am totally screwed money wise and it is just getting me down. I have told no-one. I can't. It would crush them. I think the key to me breaking this is the money factor in the triangle. I have time. I have location (I work from home on my computer) so the only thing left to restrict is money. Wish me luck.

1 week gamble free tomorrow. Small steps/targets for me. Don't get complacent because a small stake leads to a huge binge. Always has, always will. I can never win at gambling because I can never stop. This is the way of an addict.

Well done dogears69 and keep going. I got tempted by playing small stakes today and was able to resist and feel so good about it. Remember that horrible feeling gambling gives you after losing

I just wish all the debt would go away. It's hanging over my like a dark cloud. I've had so many chances to get on top of this and I keep mucking it up. Day 2 - onwards and upwards.

Dogears, I've been there. Just when I think I've beat it, the temptation is there and I go back. Just a little ends up being a whole lot. You're not alone in this.

Do you have someone that can set up a block on your computer so you can't access gambling sites? It is the only thing that has worked for me so far - took away the opportunity side of the triangle. K9 is good, it works on iPhones etc too but you really need to get someone else to install it so as you don't have the password.

In terms of the debt - I'm in the process of setting up a debt payment plan but maybe a debt management plan would be better for you? Speak to StepChange or some of the other debt advice charities. I was previously in a debt management plan - it's not a quick fix but it makes things manageable. I'm hoping that if and once I get the dpp set up, it'll take away that feeling that I need to win money to pay off my debts. I know only too well what it feels like to think you've lost that life-changing sum of money but I tell myself that it's not good money and I wasn't supposed to have it obviously or I still would.

Have you spoken to a netline advisor? I didn't go that route but have seen others speak about it and it helped them.

Keep strong. What's gone is gone, look now to the future and if you can get some help now, that future will get a little brighter everyday 🙂 x
