Hi diary

Been hard at work these past few days, just got in from another shift. (was rotored to work new years eve). The tube home was full of people enjoying themselves, drinking, singing and generally in high spirits all celebrating in the new year.

I myself felt both happy and sad..

Sad that i wasn't having such a good time as all these other people, but also happy that we had just waved goodbye to probably the worst year of my life.

GOOD B***** RIDDANCE to 2010

Terrible thing for me to say, but thats how i feel..

Will post further over the weekend and catch up with a few diaries but until then many thanks S.A, Jeff, Seano, Dilen, Brian, Russ, GT and Pauls for your very kind support, much appreciated..Thank-you all.

A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYBODY WHO USES THESE FORUMS AND TO ALL AT GAMCARE.

New year...Fresh start..

Keep safe

Hi Londonbloke

This is it kid 2011.

This is the start of the rest of your life.

It gets good from today m8.

I have a question for you.

Did your friend accept your appology?

I think if she did you owe her m8 and maybe when you save some money this year you should maybe treat her to a meal out or something.Ive got a feeling she may play a big part in your recovery .Anyway m8 the real fight starts today .All the best Jeff.

LB, as has already been posted, well done on the 29 days and OK there has been a blip but just think of where you would have been if you had not had the 29 days clean beforehand, do another 29 days clean now and then another 29 and before you know me you and loads of others on this site will be well into 2011 without having gambled.

Ive just posted a mini challenge to myself on my own diary,

with the sheer number of people on this site, a few are bound to gamble in 2011, I'm determined not to be one of those few, are you?

good luck and happy new year to you

dan

Like you, I would say g*** r****** to 2010. Whilst there were positive aspects, it has generally been a year of downs.

But hey, 2011 is here now.

And it's going to be a wonderful year for us all!

Stay very strong and very positive and we will all beat this.

Hi LB. thank you for posting on my diary, it's always good to hear from you.

Sorry I can't be more positive at the moment as you'll see I've relapsed also, but I have faith that you, probably more than me at the moment, can beat this.

All the best

Simon

Hi LB.

Cheers for posting on my diary. You are a really good person as you always find time to support others even when you have had a lapse yourself.

I had so many lapses last year that i had to start calling them collapses. For that reason i had a fierce determination to see the back of 2010.

The great thing about 2011 is that it is a new start for both of us LB. It is time for both of us to start walking the walk.

Make it your time LB.

Hi Lb and thanks for your support as always. Your right you know I do become a little stronger and a little more determined after a setback and might I suggest that the same applies and can continue to apply to you.

Remember that many gamblers go for a life time stuck in their cycle of gambling behaviour. You continue to work at it. It doesnt matter how many setbacks one might have.. the growing sense of dertermination and resolve is what mmatters.

You know that don't want stay in the cycle of get paid, gamble it, live off tips, beg, borrow, steal. Thats your old life your letting go of that life.. bit by bit.

Hope yu have a good rest of day.. S.A 🙂

Hi Diary

Just been having a read of the diaries as tonight i can't sleep..

Thanks everyone for your posts over these past few days... Apreciate peoples feedback, many thanks...

Just want to say my friend who has been staying here with me over xmas and the new year went back home yesterday (mon).

That morning (Mon 28th) i was as drunk as a s***k when she woke and i just blurted it out that i had stolen from her..

She wasn't best pleased, but also wasn't that surprised, (shes known about my gambling for years, even gambles herself now and again) still after a few heated words, all of which i deserved, i crashed out cos i had been on a marathon drinking session.. Upon waking up later that evening with a terrible hangover and after chatting and apologising for what must of been ages, it all got sorted..

I will make it up to her, not just repay the money i took but i will surprise her with something in the not too distant future.

Its the least i can do for my actions on that morning..

Anyway we are over all that and things have been good for the past week which i'm pleased about..

Did something i have not done for god knows how many years over the new year..

I never had a drink. Not even a can when i got home from work in the early hours of new years day..All i had to celebrate in the new year was a cup of tea, and thats all i have been drinking ever since..well that and milk and an awful lot of water..(drinking water by the litre).

Since the 28th December i have not had a single alcoholic drink, even this weekend when i've been off work for 3 days, not even a can..

It had to stop..

And so far so good...

I have known for sometime that i had to cut it out of my life.. Its fueled the gambling for me on many occasions, the 2 with me have always gone hand in hand..

One would always follow the other, either or which...Always..

Anyway its now 8 days today without a gamble or a drink..I do have a few quid in my pocket from tips made at the end of last week so it ain't just a case of me not having any money to do so either..I've just had enough of both of them..

Gambling and the drinking were both destroying me.. Now i know its not going to be easy, but so far so good..

Apart from me not being able to sleep(hence me up on here at this time) i'm feeling pretty good..

This for me is just the start, i know how many times before that i've messed it all up ..But i know i can do this..and i will

Its time to stand up and be counted..

Beating 1...tough

Beating 2...tougher still

Nothings impossible...

Watch this space, its time for me to start living...

Cos i'm now more determined than ever before.

Yep i can talk the talk..

but can i walk the walk?

You better believe it..

Hi Blokey, nice positive post. I'm glad you sorted things out with your friend. Drink and gambling are a horrible combination. We we all be behind you 100%. It's going to be tough fella but surely it's worth a good go. You can sort your life fella. Russ

Nowthen LB,

Thought provoking last post, what else do i have to change to enable myself to remain gamble free? Thanks for sharing will have a long think about this.

The target of paying your friend back will provide ample motivation, imagine the look on her face when you surprise her 🙂

its time to stand up and counted.

Hi LB.

Do you know what? That last post of yours is the best post i have read on here in a long time.

Great to see you acknowledging that cutting out the drinking and gambling will come hand in hand.

I think i might have a cup of tea myself later in your honour and i have less than 5 cups of tea a year!

Keep the positivity up LB it is great to see.
