Hi red,

As my good friend day@time says on here

One breath

One step

One day at a time,

that's all we need to start to move onwards and upwards,

Quick fixes won't help my. Friend, it only gives the addiction more fuel, slowly but surely is the way to go.

This addiction cannot be fixed in a day, month or even one year, it is a lifetime commitment, there is no cure once that addiction takes hold, because it never really lets go.

You are doing just fine just keep slowly moving forwards.

Thanks Suzanne xx

You are totally right! I am so keen to get things sorted that my mind is constantly in overdrive trying to solve all my problems as quickly as possible. Have to keep reminding myself - one day at a time - deep breaths - and patience. It's great to have you reiterating this as it keeps me from letting my thoughts run away with me. Need to stay vigilant and in control of my feelings so I don't become complacent.

Not giving up! One day at a time

Hi red,

Forgot to tell you about POSITIVITY one word, but it does so much to change our way of thinking. Because there is always a positive after a negative, we just have to look deep sometimes.

Hey you are doing just fine, keep going and keep posting, your feelings whether good or bad, recovery is a rollercoaster ride, hold on tight lol, every day you will feel stronger.

Take care

Suzanne xxx

Good morning, I have just spent my morning walk to work reading this diary. It's a carbon copy of my life!!

i am living in fear of payday.... Thursday for me is dooms day. It's a make or break day... I wish I could bottle up the feelings of despair and release them when I feel the urge to gamble, my issue is I am and always have been a sore loser which makes me a bookmakers dream as I don't like to be beaten so yeah, you guessed it I use all my money to try win!

this month however is different...I am in a new relationship and last month was kack because I had to come up with excuses about having no money... I haven't come completely clean about my problem but told her I have issues with money and spending irrationally therefore I would like her to take charge of my finances... I'm like a child again and I will be getting pocket money but hey, she might find it cute

Hi,

I get "pocket money" as well as providing receipts. In a strange sort of a way it puts you back in power and is a nice way to prove to yourselves and others that you are moving on.

Good luck

This diary is so great keeping track of myself and finding strength in knowing others are faced with the same struggle.

Just finished work and feeling a little urge of the slots calling but rather than even try to access online (which I can't anyway thanks to k9) took a moment and found the support I needed. Thanks everyone 🙂

Dannyyyy - it's great u've handed over and been honest about finance so early on in the relashionship. Whatever it takes is a positive step in the right direction.

Here's to another day gamble free Day, I'm off to do some housework!

Stay strong and busy 🙂

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

What a day - work was very depressing today. All I have thought about today is having a spin after work to relax and escape for a bit. But home now and rather than even attemp to log on came straight on here. Today has really made me realise how I use gambling as escapism when I'm feeling low. The idea of winning a little is the pick me up I think I need but of course in reality I can never win as I cannot stop which just makes everything even worse when feeling depressed. This isn't a major break through as I am aware of this trigger however today is the first time I have really recognised the trigger for what it is and haven't acted on it.

Going to persevere and wait for the feeling to pass - which it will - and determind to continue gamble free. Hopefully that will be the positive I'm in need of right now.

Going to try and relax and once I'm feeling calmer will busy myself so I can continue winning.

Staying strong and not giving up!
