Hi wants2stop,

Sorry to read about your OHs gambling, it must be hard for you at this time.

You have reached 10 days now and you are doing really well on your recovery, don't let your OH take you back down,

Keep strong and keep going.

Day 12 - 15/2/15

Still going strong. Update on rewards - 1 week reward - actually took OH to cinema instead of cheapy meal (only because i had a voucher so it actually cost me less)

Anyone know of any free software to download to stop gambling sites (My OH idea as he is also fed up with himself) - Thanks in advance

Have a good day!

Hi wants2stop,

Well done you on 12 days soon be two weeks of winning.

K9 is the free software to download. I believe, I have never used it, as my partner in crime (ie my laptop) disappeared from site on my first day of recovery lol.

Have a good gambling free Sunday and stay strong.

Suzanne xx

It seems to be getting easier the longer I go without gambling (although i do still think about it) - bit concerned as off work for next 3 days and my OH is out until 9pm leaving me alone and possibly more tempted than i have been lately. So how am i going to deal with this? Plan of action is to keep busy and away from the computer if temptation starts. I am aiming to finish the book i am reading in the next 3 days (approx 300 or so pages) I have a long list of chores that need doing. Lots of decorating/cleaning/sorting etc (before baby arrives)

Figure out a plan now to keep busy & come here if you're stuck for something...Just finding something to do will weaken the urges if they attack & you will be able to fight them off!

You're doing great, keep @ it - ODAAT

Thanks for the confidence 🙂

I am really determined but i am also a relaist so i am not going to deny that i may be tempted - am no where near that stage of recovery yet - however if i put it in writing and try and have a plan i am putting myself in control hopefully.

Really hope the OH lets me put this software on (however if we do i hope he doesnt go back to the bookies which is what he used to do)

You can do it...I had 3 decades under my belt before I hit the ground running! I know I have a very different life to you but half the battle is believing in yourself!

Is there any chance that your OH can keep the 'computer' with him if he doesn't agree to the download? As Suzanne said, her 'partner in crime' was taken out of her life to break her Time-Money-Location triangle & she's really smashing recovery now!

You do have complete control of your recovery even if it doesn't always feel like it!

The software is more for him than me anyway - I have considered getting rid of the computer before (when i have been really angry at OH and myself at times) Although we use it for everything (watch programs/games/social network/information etc) - we dont use the TV at all now so i would be really put out to get rid of it (and obviously i need it for this site too) I am convinced I can stop myself with will power without the software but not sure about the OH. My main concern is that we are having a baby and that we really need to sort our lives out (mainly finances due to gambling). I had a bad childhood and I am not going to let my daughter have one. I worry that if the OH doesnt stop and it causes too many problems that i would have to chose between my OH and my daughter and I am sorry I am not going to let my child suffer. I know this is really negative thinking but i am just trying to prepare myself. I just hope this will make my OH change aswell 🙂

I know he wants to (which is a start) - but only he can do it for himself (and only I can do it for me)

I cant believe how honest and personal i can be on here - slightly embarrassing but cathartic at the same time 🙂
