So my story so far is as follows: At 18 (now 26) i enjoyed a bet on a Saturday afternoon on the football and I occasionally bought a lottery ticket or a scratch card. In 2009 I won 100K on a rich for life scratch card and as you can imagine my life changed completely. I was a student who could pretty do what I wanted so my gambling got worse.
I wanted more all the time, my bets increased from 1-2 to 20 and recently as much as 1000!!! Including loading money onto online slots time after time, night after night!!!
I was a manager in a betting office and I could see peoples problems for myself but I still couldn't help myself. Now I want to stop gambling for good as I have done with casino's and FOBT machines. I hate those I think they are the devil now!!!!
I just want to make it known to younger people how dangerous the odd football flutter can turn out to be or even putting your change into the FOBT's. I have single handily seen 18 year olds lives ruined by machines and gambling through working in a bookmakers.
But from yesterday I wanted to change and I so far I have managed to resist the urge to gamble despite having a bit of money in my wallet. I set up new accounts with all gambling sites and then self excluded myself so I haven't got any accounts. I barred myself from all bookmakers in the UK so so far so good.
Day 2 and not a single bet so far!!!
Let's all beat the bookies and stay out once and for all!!!
Affected by gambling?
