Hiya Castle

Rest up there ...its been a heavy work week for you and no doubt running on adrenilne...

Keep warm and snuggled up on that couch til you drift off to sleep. Know what you mean about tiredness as it can make me feel unsettled too...

Feel better for a day off even with bout 5 phone calls with work tryin to switch off from it but it's a tough time still

Lots been happening on here with A,N gettin a support group together and offering somethin else to add to our recovery , I av mixed views on this and not sure why , firstly think it's a great idea and can understand why as myself av always wondered if there was more to this site and wanted more

Is it for me I'm not sure part of me says yes and the other says no , my recovery is the most important and I av relapsed twice in a year , A,N and Jon av also relapsed so I suppose I wonder whether this would be a good combination , on here I love to support others this is so important to my own recovery but the support stops on here not really knowing that individual , to go through with this next step I would then be more emotionally involved and could feel more pressure to help that individual and possibly feel more responsible if a relapse occurred

Think probably it's more been scared to make that next step and feel much safer how it is now , I av often looked at the top of the page at exchanging details and there is a mixed message on there stating they accept people will meet up off this site but do warn that experience shows that it can not be the best idea for their recoveries

So for now I will play it safe , I wish them all well and hope it proves to be a big help for them all I suppose time will tell

Hiya Castle

Just reading your last post there and wanted to add a few thoughts to it...all i would say is go with your gut feeling....its telling you what you needed to know.

I have made a friend on this forum but I don't use chat and am not on any other sites only f/book.

I don't know if you are on chat but if not maybe thats a half way house?

Just protect your recovery as your prescence on here is much appreciated Castle..xx

R and D xx

ps...I'm not going to be part of the group as I would feel too repsonsible and worry if i said the wrong thing but I am happy to be f/book pals with people.

Still been thinkin bout a lot my own recovery and what's right for me , at the moment I feel quite happy with this site and the time I spend on it , it's important to get that balance right and tryin to make full use of it , I know I went through a spell after bout 5 months free everything became a chore and nearly quit it took a near relapse to shake myself , I think the longer people go in their recoveries the balance can seem to sway , not needing this site to talk bout gambling as it really is not part of their lives and don't want to be reminded with the flip side needing that reminder of what they were and are one bet away from goin back to a world of misery

I really can see the reason people need that little bit more in their recoveries as the burning question to everyone is where does this all end when will we be brave enough to take that step and reenter society without the support of this wonderful site

The answer is for each individual to work out some like myself just take it one day at a time and look no further than that , other use this site but less frequently and that can work for them , and some need more as the thought of been here for the foreseeable future does not appeal to them

Myself am more than happy to take it one day at a time , with a recent relapse still waiting for a divorce to come through still unsure of what lies ahead in my relationship with my friend and then work with is been so tough at the moment and waiting on a transfer in Jan

These problems will be resolved over the comin months giving me a clearer direction in my life but for now the balance is good no urges to gamble and living each day as it comes

hi castle...

its interesting isnt it ?...recovery i mean...and as they used to say in AA..its not drinking problem..its a thinking problem.

I guess i see all addictions like that..including my own..faulty thinking and reactive feeling and emotions.

Im never going to not think or feel so I guess so long as im human i will always be in some sort of recovery as i will always need some sort of help or outlet to manage lifes hurdles and the emotions that go with it.

I like the forum as it keeps us in touch with our human side and hearts and souls which often gets lost in the noisy outside world.

hugs

R and D xx

yeah guess i jump arround to a few different sites. mainly been posting on this one lately. guess im easily distracted from one to the next and then at times just disappear and come back a few months later. lol guess i just go for what feels right at the time. so yeah, thinking everyone has got their own way of dealing with it. for me lately been reading up on being a money hoarding pig. lol yeah all them little sites out there with tips and tricks to save a dime ive been visiting. gotta say its been interesting viewing em and almost look forward to reading that stuff lately. has got me thinking twice about tossing me cash to the wind and if ya havent checked out may be worth taking a peek at for ya.

Evening,

Great post this morning. I think we have both said a number of times this is an each to their own journey. Their is only one ultimate goal really and that is to remain bet free. How you do that is irrelevant as long as you do it. What will most likely happen if you achieve that 'Ultimate Goal' is other parts of life will start to come together and you can set new 'mini goals'.

You do it one day at a time and my friend I do it exactly the same. For me I am not scared of being around this site for 10 years 15 years, a lifetime if needs be.

Sometimes the words do not flow and I don't write on other diaries but each day I comment on my own diary. I have said before I like to keep the addiction close enough to know it's there but far enough away that I can keep it a bay. This site allows me to do that.

I think what you have now realised is Castle has to come first. It's a massive step and it will aid you in your recovery. You have been there from the first day I used this site, your support is unrelenting and I do hope you continue to find this happy medium. One where YOU take precedent!

Flagg

Benn to my daughters assembly this mornin and she has done fantastically well winning 3 awards for all her hard work inc the headteachers star pupil award which is out of bout 150 kids , so come away feeling very proud of her and could see in her little face that she was proud of herself

She plays a massive part in my recovery she is that motivation to never go back to that life of lies and misery , my real motivation is that she feels as proud of me the same way I felt as proud of her today
