Hi

my names Abby and I am a gambling addict. In 2020 I finally used GameStop and put an end to online gambling. However this year I have relapsed.

it all began when I asked my sister to let me use her account to place a bet on the grand national and yeah the rest is history. I’m not looking for sympathy I know it was foolish and weak of me to ever think I could have a ‘little flutter’. In all honesty I thought I’d have overcome addiction? Do you ever overcome it? Can you ever go back to it just a little? Cause In my experience you can’t. I know it sounds absolutely barbaric but I miss it when I don’t do it - even though I know it makes me a mess in the long run.

thanks for reading ❤️

Hi Abby,

I know exactly how you feel because I'm in the same boat. I had my first bet in 2018 on a football match, I won. I had a accumulator on football the next weekend, I won. Then a friend introduced me to horses and my life has never been the same since then.

I used GamStop and GamBan and I thought I was over my addiction a few years ago, now I am literally back to square one. At first you think you can just have a bet here and there but you just honestly can't. You just end up in a vicious cycle.

I enjoy gambling, I really do but it just takes one bad moment and I lose control of it all over again and it's scary because I wonder if I'll ever fill the void, if I'll ever find a replacement for the buzz I get from gambling but I think I've found the right place to get the help and support I need. Hopefully you have too.

Hi @kaskade123

Thanks for your post. I really empathise with you and wish you the best with your recovery. That being said there is something worse coming up you'll need to concentrate your mind on. like you I've signed up to GamStop for five years which comes to an end next summer. When I joined GamStop I thought that was the end of it, but little did i know that 5 years comes to an very quickly...

Please focus on what you'll do when when your GamStop ends and how you'll convince yourself to sign up for another 5 years. I thought about gambling for 5 years during my GamStop ban and now Ive convinced myself I've changed? But have I?? I think not 🤔
