Hi Joey

Well done in you being able to realise that you were getting back onto "dangerous territory" so to speak. It appears that you have some good will power and self control on the whole, which I think are to great assets to have when abstaining from gambling.

Ok, so you had another go at it and thought you could beat the bookies. You have realised that you cannot and it has only ended up in you feeling miserable and annoyed with yourself.

You have done the best thing in reflecting back on this and doing something about it. Not sure if you are interested but Flagg is operating a year long thread starting from this month - Dec 14.

I myself, like to have short/long term goals/targets as it gives me something to aim towards and so I think threads like these really help me. Maybe they can do the same for you also?

Good luck and glad you got straight back on here when you realised you needed to.

Take care.

ThNks for the reply mate. I'm sat here thinking of gambling right now why am I craving it? I'm thinking that I might win big and get back what I lost.

Going to be strong tho just want to get to the stage I don't think about it!

Hi Joey

You may just well gamble and win big but you know you won't stop there till it's all gone. Phone Netline and speak to someone

Strange you've just replied to me mate I was just reading through your diary and I always think what you did like the £20 won't hurt and when I lose that it's another 20 to win that back if that goes £40 then so on.

I want to be string and overcome this and get the appreciation for money back! Thanks for the reply

Stick with recovery my friend it gets better and easier but only if you want it. Gambling really sucks the life out of you and tricks you into thinking it wont hurt! We all know it does

Hang in there buddy!

Hi Joey

As Smiler says, you may win again and possibly big but I am sure you know what that could very possibly lead to. Is it worth it? Think about how bad you feel already. Times that by two. It could be the case if you do decide to go there again.

Stay strong - a craving/urge is like a strong wave - it will eventually come crashing down and disappear!!

Take care and remain positive.

Hi Joey.

I am only on day 3 of being abstinent having been here previously. The urges are still strong to me at the moment too but I know they will pass and by employing techniques to keep myself occupied and using software, exclusions etc to physically block my access to sites I feel quite strong. I know that I am only ever a moment away from destroying my life so I try to stay present and refuse to give in to the temptation.

I hope that you too can stay strong and we can travel this road together.

Best wishes x

Hiya mate cheers for the support it does help keep coming in this site and catching up. What was your problem in gambling? My major one was roulette but after that started on £5 footy bets then I'd end up spending 400-500 in a couple if nights I just can't gamble I realise this. Hope your coping buddy

Joey

fella again welcome, I hope you find the resolve to continue to arrest the punt, it is a very simple mantra we follow whilst at it.

I cannot win because I cannot stop.

That can be reversed by arresting the punt.

I did win because I did stop.

Ironic but true, the thing we chase is to be had by not chasing.

I hope you stick around and enjoy the benefits

A 100% payrise.

duncs stepping forward never back.

Hiya dunc cheers for the post it's very true what you say in fact I've just put the quote "I did win because I stopped" as my phone wallpaper. Serious urges today as I seem to think what I've lost is okay now and a little flutter on the football will be okay but staying string I will beat this!! Cheers buddy

Your addictive part in the brain will tell you it's OK, it wasn't that bad, you're still alive, you've come through this before! It is now your chance to clear the mist and make a stand against the one demon you know will never leave, you can learn to live with it and after a while it will slowly cease to exist unless you give it a voice!

Keep going you'll get there
